This review is for the Castle Kitchen Spicy Hot Chocolate. I wanted to buy a good hot chocolate with a bit of a kick. I couldn't decide among the various companies, so I bought 4 different brands. This is the third one I opened after finishing choices 1 and 2. When peeling open the foil seal, the smell of rich chocolate came up. I just finished this one today and opened the 4th container (each of these from a different company), and the 4th container didn't smell very chocolaty and tasted mild. Now, this could be due to another factor - freshness. Maybe this brand was the freshest batch of the four. I don't know. It just smelled and tasted the best for some reason. Also, I noticed that at least 2 of the brands had the same container size and style, and I wondered if they were manufactured at the same place, with only the company labels as the difference. Who knows? So, I am ordering more of this brand because it smelled like deep, rich chocolate when I opened it, and tasted good.

Bery good quality and lasts quitr a while. The spice level is mild, but present. That said, if you don't like the taste of anise, you won't like this. It is bordering on strong.

Seriously delicious. It's been years since I drank cocoa regularly ... but on the 3rd in 6 months. You'd never guess it's nondairy, vegan even. Well balanced, mild heat. I don't taste anise at all as one reviewer did. If you like to spike your cocoa with booze, try it plain first so you know the flavor profile.

LOVE this new Spicy Hot Dark Chocolate!

This item wasn’t so great. It was okay, just had an imitation taste in my opinion. Husband had a similar opinion. Said it was a waste.

The flavor and spice seems a bit weaker than other brands of spicy chocoloate that I have purchased previously. I end up using more product to get the flavor and mild kick to be noticable.

Got this for my spice loving kid. She loved it. Not too spicy.. I added hot Chipotle powder to it for her. Nice flavor. It’s pretty pricey, so it will probably only be an occasional purchase.
