get your steps in without having to worry about slipping
like most of the country we have been in a deep freeze for about a week. light snow fell for two days, and since that time the thermometer has only made it to 32 for a few hours. walking in the snow was fine until a couple days ago when we had freezing rain and then freezing fog…when taking the garbage out proved a harrowing experience, I felt it was a good time to pull out the yaktrax. even though the windchill is 2 the dogs and I have been dying to get out and walk.I returned several “copy cat” products before stepping up to the yaktrax. even though I may only wear them a couple of days a year, I could tell many would break because of poor construction or inferior materials, others where just too small for work boots. I bought a pair of XXL yaktrax to fit over my size 13, 8” insulated boots and they fit perfectly, moreover, they worked to perfection. they allowed me to go places I would never consider and had zero concern - as sure footed as a yak (I suppose). we live on a bay off a huge lake that had frozen over…even out there my traction was excellent and I had a good walk with the dogs…I also like how easy they are to put on and take off. I used to wear an old pair of metal spiked, golf shoes when it got cold…but those aren’t insulated and it’s real easy to end up with wet feet. Nor do I want to spend several hundred dollars on a special boot. this way I can wear whatever I want to and be assured of traction. I do recommend sizing up one size if you are going over hiking or work boots. the construction of yaktrax is simple but robust. I think the rubber is strong and isn’t going to snap in a year like some I looked at.lastly, yaktrax aren’t going to impair your traction on a clean surface either and that’s what has sold me on them. I highly recommend these for anyone who likes to get out irrespective of what mother nature throws at you.

Fit my Pac boots great and no more slipping or falling!
They took some muscle power to install on my Pac boots but worth the effort and worth every penny. I am more stable and confident when walking in snow, on packed snow, or on ice. Before Yaktrax diamond grip, I had a dilemma of keeping my feet warm in my Pac boots or having more traction and cold feet in very cold (single digit) weather. Now I have the best of both as my feet are warm in my Pack boots and Yaktrax diamond grip provides exceptional traction.

Quiet, comfortable + secure walking, but save your money
I've had a pair of regular old YakTrax for like 30 years. Finally, the metal popped off. I bought them again on Amazon, AND I sprung for these beefier Diamond YakTrax. It's all over for the regular ones.*** Seriously. When I wore them I sometimes still slipped, and on regular pavement, crunch-crunch-crunch, they were super noisy. Also I felt separated from the ground, like I could not grip it with my sneaker outsoles. The diamond version provide a more secure and comfortable ride. I feel a little closer to the ground in these, and also, they are quite a bit quieter on all surfaces than the regular YakTrax.I am just leaving them on my winter walking sneakers for now. There are sections of the road where I walk every day that are clear, and then there are sections with slush and thick ice. These diamond YakTrax allow me to keep my pace, whether it is walking fast or jogging. There is nothing worse when you are out there walking for fitness to have to slow down and pick your way along, for fear of falling. If you live where it gets cold and sometimes snows and freezes, don't hesitate. Yes, you could pull a muscle in your groin or break a fingernail struggling to stretch them over your shoes, but it is worth it.*** Yes, my originals lasted decades. I was out for a walk/hike today, very sloppy out and one of my Diamond Grip YakTraks broke. Yes, just rusted away. Who are these really for? Someone who needs them for half a season? I am very unhappy with the quality control here. Serious: regular old YakTraks last and last. Diamond Grips don't even last a full winter season. Bummer. Fell right off my sneaker. They left me out there two miles from my car and nothing but black ice and slush to get through. As soon as I got back to my car, the originals went back on my Hoka One Ones. What a waste of money these Diamond Grips are.

Great, but they only last a season.
These are great and really help with ice/snow but they break after a season. If you're on the fence about which size I suggest the larger size because it's easier to get on and off. My boots are women's size 10 and the large size easily slips on and off, but doesn't fall off when hiking.

Works the best on icy trails!
Everything is great... except price. I still remember my first pair for $25 before Yaktrax purchased IceTrackers and doubled the price.

Perfect for hiking in Iceland
I used these on my trail shoes during a trip to Iceland. They were perfect! I don’t have the best balance and am often scared of slipping on ice and snow. These helped me keep my grip on snow trails and I never slipped! I highly recommend.

Grip!
I got an off brand I guess from work and they stretch out and fall off my boots the first morning I wore them. These stay tight and don’t feel odd in the sense like the cleat type you can’t really feel the bottom of your feet if that makes sense. These are definitely worth the price I’d say and they grip well on ice, even pushing and pulling trash cans.

Grip for - fly fishing?
I find myself not wanting to wear waiters and boots when fly fishing so I needed to find a solution to keep me from slipping and sliding through rocks as I traverse streams.I used something similar to these in Alaska and thought they were a game changer. The first thing I did was order up a pair of these for my closed toes water shoes I wear into the water when fishing.Instant difference from what I was used to. I can now feel my feet gripping instead of slipping. I have a lot more confidence stepping into quicker water without the worry that I'm going to find my way floating downstream due to a poorly positioned foothold. These slide on super easy so if I want to just clip them onto my back as I trek to new spots with minimal effort. They stay snug over my shoes and haven't felt as though I was going to lose one yet.An excellent addition to my low cost fly fishing gear.I'm sure they will be equally good in the Dakota snow and ice.

Life-changing
It isn't an exaggeration to say these will change my life. I've always been a major klutz. Even on a sunny summer day, I can trip on air and have done it often. It's the slipperiest time of the year right now....when the temp hovers just above/below freezing, creating terribly slick sidewalks of glassy ice. Naturally, I've already fallen this year when my dog pulled hard (in his defence, leisurely strolling snails could have outpaced us). These were mentioned to me by another dog person. Best product recommendation ever!We went for a walk as soon as they arrived. At first, I still took it slow, testing things out as we went, trying to slide my foot on really slick patches, etc. They dig right into the ice. By the time we finished our walk, I was confidently walking on the icy sidewalks at the pace we normally go in summer. My dog will still pull when he sees rabbits and squirrels, but these will keep me in control of the situation. I took one off to show my neighbour, and it was like having a curling slider on that foot. I'm still not likely to ever be out walking in the wicked cold of deep winter, but the other 11 months of the year, we'll be out walking in the fresh air. If I were a runner, I'm sure I could easily run in these. The quality is excellent. I have no doubt these will last years (I will update this review if that opinion changes). I wear a women's size 10 shoe. They are at their reasonable stretch limit and it probably take a little more effort to get them on than necessary. It isn't too hard for me to manage, but if you don't have a lot of strength, you might want to consider the next size up if you wear a women's 10.

Good grip
Makes walking safer on the ice, was a struggle to get them on at first but once on they were no problem.

Very good grip.
First use and very impressed with grip. Felt very safe and comfortable. Don’t know about longevity yet. Found them fairly easy to put on and I am 60, female and have some arthritis in my hands but my boots are at the smaller end of the size range so your mileage may vary.

Great cleats for the price
Having an oversized snow boot (US 14) it was tricky to find cleats that would stretch over my boot, these are great as they offer a XXL for oversized boots.I would definitely go a size up when buying them!

These are the best cleats I’ve owned.
I walk 6-8 km every day. Winter walking is a challenge and I’ve fallen too many times to not wear cleats. These are the best. I’ve tried the coil style… the coils broke within a month. I’ve tried the button style… the buttons started falling off after a couple months. These are expensive but worth it. I agree with the reviews that say they need to be dried after use. I just put my boots on an open rack. Don’t try to take them on and off … they’re too tight. I have winter walking boots and the cleats stay on.
