This is a really nice small umbrella for carrying around in your car or briefcase or luggage on trips. I especially like the handle -- since most other portable umbrellas have a small handle that is easy to loose grip of with a medium-strong wind. Not so with this unit, which is very sturdy and has a nice handle "feel" to it. It's also nice that the cover is a little bigger so that when the umbrella is put away, it slides in easily, and is not like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube.It is very easy to open, but while my unit does not have a "snap/click-in-place" when it opens (like the directions say), the spring mechanism is so tight that this umbrella will never close up on its own. In fact, once the umbrella is closed, it takes a strong hand to push the unit back down into it's handle cradle position. the open and close button works very well -- this unit expands instantaneously to the open position. Closing is another matter; the close button with snap the unit closed, but then it must be pushed down in order to fully close it (which is like a gym workout).The instructions are rather confusing, and talk about manual opening and closing -- which I don't understand because it is an automatic open and close.But overall, this is a very well made unit that is sturdy, nice sized (to keep you dry during rain storms), and comfortable to use. You will be very happy with your purchase, and won't have to worry about it falling apart in the near future.

I ordered this because I was looking for a small umbrella and this was described as such in the Amazon listing. I was initially disappointed when I opened this package because was expecting a small umbrella. I personally believe that an umbrella that is over 15" long when fully collapsed is hardly "compact" or "small" as the title implies. That said, I did find the umbrella to be of decent quality, even though it's larger than what I was looking for.The mechanism to open and close the umbrella works flawlessly. When retracted, the umbrella folds up nicely and is easy to put back in the protective sleeve if you want to store it that way between uses. I did think the umbrella felt a bit loose when fully opened, so repeated opening and closing might cause an issue after a lot of use. Since it works fine now, the loose feeling did not impact my rating.I like this umbrella, but I feel the description is misleading. It's a normal sized umbrella to me, not a "small" or "compact" model. For that reason, I didn't give it a five star rating, but it's good if you want a regular sized model.

My favorite umbrella recently broke, and while I am generally not a fan of compact and automatic-open ones, the color choices and handle made me want to try this one. As soon as I got it, I was surprised at how heavy it was. At close to a pound, it is one of the heavier umbrellas I have but I can see it becoming one of my favorites at some point. For $18, this is a well-designed and well-thought out umbrella. The handle is very comfortable to hold, and it has a hinge that can be opened to hang the umbrella on a backpack or railing.This umbrella opens quickly with the touch of a button and the span is more than large enough for me - definitely bigger than my Humane Society umbrella (although that one has dog pictures on it, which make it fun). Another touch of the same button collapses the umbrella. However,. once collapsed, it does take some strength to push it back toward the handle. That is the one drawback I would forewarn people about, in case they have arthritis or weak hand / arm strength in general.Once collapsed and folded, I was able to get the cover back on with minimal effort.My only question regarding this umbrella is how durable it will be since there are many moving and mechanical parts, and anything can go wrong. Best I can do for now is continue to test it out when we have rain here in the Northeast. As soon as there is anything else to report, I will edit this review with updates.

This Leagera umbrella is very heavy for a compact small umbrella. It's not light and small enough to fit in a standard handbag. If you're into carrying large totes around and don't mind weight on your shoulder, then it will work for you just fine.The handle doesn't make sense to me. It's not comfortable to hold. I guess it takes some getting used to.I think a normal style handle would have been much better, because this handle seems to make it more cumbersome. It doesn't open and shut as smoothly as I would like it to either.Structurally is does seem stronger than most umbrellas, but unfortunately it's a bit too heavy and burdensome to carry around.

Such a great umbrella, I love the color (beige) and the handle is comfortable to hold for long periods. The umbrella opens and closes smoothly, and although when closed the umbrella is small it opens to a large size and feels sturdy.The umbrella does a great job of keeping me dry in the rain, I think it will hold up a long time because it feels high quality, not flimsy.I keep the umbrella in my trunk so it's there when I need it. This would make a great gift too!

Here in South Florida, you can get rained on just about any time. If you travel with family or friends, having a single umbrella in the car is not enough, and this unit from Leagera fits the bill for wide canopy, slender storage, and appealing design. The handle is not only visually pleasing, it feels good in your hand too. It also has a feature where you can move portion of the handle, similar to a carabiner, and clip it onto a rod or handle. It has a nice cover as well. It flies open with the button press, and collapses just as fast, and it has a good amount of tension in the spring when you push it back into the fully collapsed position. The fabric is blemish free, attached to the frame well, and the frame itself was also free from any errors. I got the blue color, and I think it's just perfect.
