Upgrade of the Vintage TinySA Spectrum Analyzer
I'm still in the process of evaluating the Ultra's capabilities. But, a few initial thoughts. A person that is used the original TinySA can operate and calibrate the Ultra out of the box. I note that an actual operation manual specifically for the Ultra seems to be unavailable, so a person new to the TinySA will have to look through the original TinySA manual and gather bits and pieces on TinySA website for the additional features of the Ultra. They refer to groups.io for a knowledge base and I have experienced mixed results. The waterfall of the Ultra seems not as clear and distinct as the original TinySA. On the bench, the Ultra is reasonable for most spectrum analyzer applications, but not the precision of commercial equipment. In summary, a reasonable value for cost and small enough to fit in your hand, a useful tool in my tool box for sure. Cheers!

Compact, capable, affodable
I can't believe how capable this thing is for what it costs. My employer used to pay 6-figures for an equivalent capability that fit in a 19" rack. This fits in my pocket and costs less than a night out with my wife. Bought it to find a serious source of interference in my ham shack (Chinese grow lights) and have found all sorts of uses for it since.

THE NEXT best THING for a Ham after a NanoVNA!
So, you have your VNA to have your antennas and filters tuned and ready to go, the Tiny SA is the next tool for your workbench. With the included 25-watt attenuator, you can measure the RF performance of your handi-talkie. If you dial-down the output of your mobile or base rig or add a larger attenuator, you can do the same. Have RF noise in your home or shack from a wall-wart or LED light, plug in the included whip antenna and go on a fox hunt for noise. This is a great tool for the shack and workbench for the intermediate technical person. This unit is everything I expected with sufficient cables and accessories to get started. Battery life is good. The app is good as well. Spend some time with the SA and the app. It's worth it. This is a great device for the $$ I RECOMMEND!

Amazing entry-level tool for students or enthusiasts
I used this for a 400-level college course covering RF & Microwave topics. It pales in comparison to benchtop analyzers regarding accuracy, however for DIY or hobbyist use, or even in an academic setting, it's still an incredible tool. Calibration is easy and performing tests to compare against benchtop equipment is a great idea to gain familiarity. I highly recommend the Ultra over the standard TinySA, due to the level-calibrated measurements out to 6GHz (and non-linear "observations" out to 12GHz!) Having used both there is no real reason to stick with the standard version - just get the Ultra!
