Lonely Planet Denmark 8 (Travel Guide)

The home of "Hygge"...
Denmark is smaller and much less physically varied than its Nordic neighbors. On the other hand, it is a safe, quiet country with lots to offer the visitor, and far fewer travel challenges. Most of all, the former home of the Vikings who scourged Europe is now the world center for Hygge, the notion of a happy nation that values coziness, camaraderie, and contentment...This well-organized Lonely Planet guide offers some general tips on a trip to Denmark, along with a suggested top 15 attractions. Follow-on regional chapters get into specifics on things to do and where to stay and to eat. Of note, Denmark has lots of seashore, plenty of surviving history (including the castle that inspired Hamlet) and miles of bikes trails. Also of note, the narrative includes lots of the opinions that tend to make a difference in choosing between options. There are some good tips on practicalities at the back, along with a pull-out map of Copenhagen. The guide has only a few color photographs, but it does include lots of maps at different scales. Well recommended as a good resource for planning a first visit to Denmark.

Not a great ressource
I am a huge fan of Lonely Travel books, but this one fell short! Their day trip section was not great, and I found a lot of “off the beaten path” suggestions missing. I would not recommend this book.

Delivered damaged.
I love the Lonely Planet guides, but sadly the book was delivered badly damaged. See photos below. It was just stuffed into an envelope so I'd highly recommend better packaging for the future. Shame.

Always a useful guide and great to read on the go with he Kindle app
Excellent guide book, as usual. Good descriptions of areas and towns. Easy to use on your phone with the Kindle app. Unfortunately COVID 19 regulations prevented me going to Denmark but hope to go when things calm down a bit. There is a recreation of Graceland in Denmark, which sounds fascinating. I have never heard of that.
