There are narrow, medium and wide wall boxes, and if one tries to put something thick like a decent dimmer switch or fan motor controller into a narrow box the faceplate will not be flush with the wall....just too much bulk inside the box. Unfortunately, most home builders use narrow or medium boxes inside a dwelling because walls typically are only ~ 4-5" thick, plus the boxes are cheaper. Without this "cheat" closing the gap between the faceplate and box one will have a visible gap....and a potential shock hazard.

So glad I found these. If your box isn’t deep enough for your new Wi-Fi light switches, this is the easiest way to fit it in. Looks good too.

Good 2-gang spacer. Made room in the tiny box that the house had. Only downside was the little tabs that do not allow it to sit flush against the wall. Other than that, it was perfect for what I needed.

Using this spacer ring is cheaper/faster than putting in a new wall box. It does stick out of the wall about 1/2" and match "Standard" size 2 gang wall plate perfectly.

Worked great for two 3-way smart switches in a tight two gang switch box. As expected, it is not as visually appealing as a flush mounted switch plate.

Smoother and more attractive. You can paint it you can use caulk so there isn’t a visible seam between it and the wall. Provides plenty of space for larger switch is like dimmers and outlets.

The quality and ease of use is great. FYI, make sure your cover plate matches the length/width dimensions of the extension or else the edges of the cover plate will extend out and look weird. It still works, it just won’t look ideal.

This is a great way to add some depth to a work box. It is unobtrusive and seems well made.
