Works for most internal HDD
Seems to work better at reading drives than my other enclosure. Important to note that for the IDE slot, if the power and data ports aren't spaced standard the drive won't fit.

Pretty neat device
Pretty neat device. Had 5 old hard drives laying around (3 SATA, 2 IDE). The first two SATA drives I attempted to retrieve data from, the device wouldn't recognize. The 3rd SATA drive read like a champ. I put the first IDE drive in, you could hear the disk spin up, but wouldn't read. Same with the second IDE drive. Pulled the jumpers off from both drives, and checked them again, this time both drives worked and was able to get some long lost pictures from one of the drives. Only advice is be very careful with the IDE drives. The power port for the IDE drives is adjustable, try to get the 44 pin socket lined up first, then adjust the power socket next. I bent two pins by getting the power socket lined up first. Luckily I could straighten the pins out and get it to work.

Poor Design and other issues....
I bought this item specifically for the IDE connection and it is a very bad design. The tolerances for this are either down to the mm or just doesn't fit period. I could not get the drive securely in just due to the fact that you cannot see the connectors. You obviously don't want to give it too much pressure or you bend the pins on the hard drive or you can break one off. Once or twice I thought I had it, while empty, my PC will see the chipset in the device so it sees it, but once the IDE side is "populated" it does absolutely nothing. I know the drive works because I had just used a cable adapter that changes IDE to SATA, there is no docking station so you can actually see the connections. Overall I would not suggest this product to anyone because of the inherent design flaw that you literally cannot see the connections at all and run the risk of damaging the HDD beyond repair. I had no reason to try the SATA side but I'm sure it worked fine, but if all you need is SATA, there are better options.

Not a bargain- hard to use
The unit was very fragile looking and inserting an ide drive was difficult. Not at all worth the money. It ended up in the "not gonna use much" shelf.

No problems with any IDE connection. Possible glitch if one drive is faulty.
I haven't had any problems with this unit concerning IDE connections. Just slightly tilt and look down the bottom of the disk to align the pins/socket as you slide it down into place. You can see everything lining up. I have a collection of old drives and it read all but one. That one is clicking so I can't complain about it. Didn't download the software or try the clone function yet. I have Acronis so probably will use that if I need any cloning. If it had another SATA port on this unit, it would be perfect. Only glitch I saw was if one drive is taking a while to read or is bad it won't allow the good drive to show up in File Explorer until you remove the bad one.

It works on a couple older IDE drives
Be carful when inserting the drive, you will need to move the power plug to match the drives location, they’re all a little different
