Great CD - I first heard FAK watching the movie Wild and just thought wow, I need to hear more from them. So I just sampled some of their tunes on YT and bought this CD first. I listen to it in the car,at home, on my iPhone when I'm out hiking. I also have Stay Gold and love it just as much!! Buy either one or both !! Yes, I still buy cd's - best sound quality for those that care and have a system that you can hear the difference on. Emmy Lou - an homage to Emmy Lou Harris and Gram Parsons - has the best sound engineering of all of the tracks. The rest are ok recordings - but buy this for the great songs, incredible lyrics, and vocal harmonies.

a very good album
Everyone is probably familiar with 'king of the world' and 'emmylou', I will begin by saying that anyone who enjoys those two songs will enjoy this cd. I will add that they are not the best songs on the cd. Most every cut is as good if not better and this is from someone who bought the cd on the strength of 'king of the world'. I was not overwhelmed by the cd since I expected it to be good and it is. Its more americana crossover music than it is pop or country or pure folk. The best thing about the cd is that it flows. The songs are not just randomly thrown together. It is not cohesive enough to be a conceptual recording but still flows from one song to the next whether effortlessly. I see these two sisters just getting better and hope I'm not wrong. I probably don't need to say that if you don't like 'king of the world' or 'emmylou' chances are good you would not like this cd although these songs are not the best of their material they are indicative of the type material they perform which to me is pretty damn good.

Maybe this album will grow on me. I bought Stay Gold at the same time as The Lion's Roar after hearing one song by FAK on the radio that really caught my ear. Based on reviews here I couldn't decide which to buy so bought both. I gave SG 5 stars and this one 3. To me TLR kind of sounds the same from track to track while SG shows the growth of this duo in both song writing and musicianship and has a couple of really stand out songs.

Great harmonizing.
Heard the song “Silver Lining” during a promo for Turner Classic Movie channel. Thought it was great and You Tubed the group and fell in love with the voices of the harmonizing sisters from Sweden. Bought 2 cd’s and would like to see them in concert if they come to Florida, USA.

I found out about FAK because they wrote a song Emmylou who happens to be my favorite singer. The song was so good I kept playing it over and over. Was blown away be their talent I bought 3CDs of FAK. Klara has the voice of an angel and I now love Klara's voice way past Emmylou!!!!! I listen to them every chance I get.

Disappointed I had to order it twice. After owning it a month I realized it was missing a song. "Wolf" is awesome enough that I bought the CD again. So keep your fingers crossed or verify you're getting the current one with the "bonus track" Wolf. Aside from that it's a great CD. I've played it dozens of times already.

The highlight of the album is "Emmylou." It's a beautiful song and the harmonies are spot on through the entire disk. You can hear in their sound the way Emmylou Harris inspired their style. I would recommend the album.

WOLF is supposed to be a bonus track and it is not included on this CD. Will be returning it. VERY disappointed

Get the First Aid Kit out...
I came across this duo when Master Pretender from Stay Gold and title track from this one was played on BBC6 Music by Mary Anne Hobbs. What a lovely sound they make. The harmonies are just blissful to listen to and I don't think there's a bad track on the album. Klara & Johanna Soderberg have voices with a haunting quality but still with much of a country/folk feel. I bought this and Stay Gold and although both good in their own right I think Stay Gold has the edge with every track a gem. This one some fine tunes with beautiful harmonies but to my ear, tails off a little towards the end of the cd compared with the other. But that's comparing one with the other. If I'd bought this one alone it's still good.If you only get one First Aid Kit album I can recommend Stay Gold over this, although you may then be hooked anyway!

A good example of not believing everything you read - excellent production, beautiful harmonies - but no edge, most of it is just too sugary, a couple of brilliant tracks but not enough to make me glad I bought it.

Swedish Smorgasbord of Musical Excellence
This is the second glorious album from Swedish sisters Klara and Johana Soderberg (and Benkt plus Mattias Bercqvist great names by the way) and a `difficult second album' this most certainly aint. It kicks off with the title track with a song that has one foot in country and the other infolk with pedal steel and mandolin to boot. `Emylou' is just beautiful with pared back simplicity and harmonious vocals to die for.`In the hearts of men' slows down the pace but is hauntingly languid and just washes over you like sunshine on a winter's day (God I am getting real gushy here sorry). Track 4 `Blue' gets the tempo up a beat with a lovely song of missed chances.`This old routine' is probably my favourite, although it is hard to choose from so many gems, with a rich lilting vocal on a tale of love worn through with beautiful mandolin and an underscored percussion that Tindersticks would be proud of (probably!) Track 8 `I found a way' is another tale of dark and flawed love that the beautiful harmonies hide like a gossamer veil.Penultimate track `New Years Eve' is an effortless blending of simple arrangements with a crystal clear vocal that flows like a tributary to a great river. This leads us into `King of the World' which is a lovely slice of country life and we have guest instruments of violin, trumpet and accordion, almost a ho-down, and a great way to finish a truly beautiful album. I can't wait to see them later this year and for album number three, this though is an absolute triumph.

Brilliant!
I bought this after seeing this duo perform at Glastonbury....... (on tv.... I didn't go!).... I am still playing this over and over in my car! It is a fantastic album and I love every track, but especially the title track, The Lions Roar, Emmylou and Wolf. Their harmonies are amazing. Essentially I suppose it is country music, which is really not my thing, and had I not seen them perform, I would never have bought this....... but it is such a lovely selection of tunes that I feel like forcing everyone to listen to it! I am definitely going to buy at least 1 of their past albums now, and I hope they get more air play and recognition. Possibly the best album I have bought for a long time!

Great album
My main issue with this album is it invokes a streak of jealousy in me. How can two ladies be so effortlessly talented at such a young age?! Some of the songs are a bit boring and repetitive, but their vocals make up for any spots where the lyrics/tube lacks
