Works great the mice have left

We had sometimes begun to see a mouse run from behind the kitchen bin to under the fridge, and had also found droppings in the adjacent garage. I hate putting down poison, especially with a dog sniffing around, but it had to be done so I got a set of these boxes and bait. I'm impressed by their design - they are strong and really difficult to get open even with the tool provided, so are very safe from accidental emptying. They are little, and thus go into small out-of-the-way places where mice can get to, but dogs can't, like behind the fridge. They are easy and safe to load as you don't have to touch the bait, which is a bit like pink Playdoh in a plastic sachet, which the mice nibble through without you having to touch it. I chose the clear plastic version, which is good because you can hold the box up to the light and see if the bait has been nibbled, without opening the box. After a couple of nights, the one in the garage is going down steadily, so i guess there are some mice with a tummy ache somewhere, but they seem to have disappeared. and the price is really good for the set of five boxes and bait to fill them. It has worked no more mice

I've been buying these for 7 years now to keep the mouse population down at a holiday home we have in rural France. They work REALLY well, we use them in conjunction with clear and black boxes you can get to contain the sachets.

We tried humane traps first, they're expensive when you want to put more than one or two out, and they're very hit or miss. We had five out for weeks and caught just one mouse. So we decided to go for poison since the humane methods were letting the mouse problem get worse instead of better. These boxes are like rodent repellent. I've had 10 of these down and never once seen droppings in them, or seen any evidence of the poison being eaten. Plenty of activity around them, but none inside. They've been placed in the attic along known paths of travel, under the kitchen cupboards, behind bins, even under a floorboard that I've got access to where the mice have nibbled a hole in the skirting. Mice just are not interested in going inside these things at all. I left some of the sachets of poison out along the mouse trails in very isolated areas and ONLY ONE was nibbled. They do not care at all, and the sachets genuinely do stink. I figured: hey, I guess this is a smell that mice must like when I first opened up the bag... but no. Amazingly enough mice don't seem to like to eat things that stink. We ended up getting some pellet poison and little trays, and within a single day the mice had taken the bait and were eating. The blue pellet poison that actually works smells really nice, like cheap chocolate and the filling inside cream biscuits. It smells like something very sweet, like cheap sweets. Smells exactly like something that would get eaten... nothing at all like the pasta sachets. I'm rating it two starts because your mileage may vary; the boxes are very good and secure, and maybe I just got a bad batch of poison, but I doubt it. One of the sachets did get nibbled but it's hard to confirm its efficacy. If they'd come out when called for a headcount then I'd not need the poison in the first place. Perhaps our mice just didn't show any interest in this but others do. If you are trying to curb a mouse problem before it becomes a real problem like we were then don't bother with the boxes and pasta sachets, go directly for the granulated poison in trays. Leave them out under cupboards and behind bins and you will see how fast that stuff gets eaten. I regret not doing this sooner.
