Animalisms

Lots to like, what's to dislike? You don't need to be a History Major to know who they were, the 'Blues Kings from the North East of England' who Brought Delta Blues to Blighty. Here's a challenge: listen to them for ten minutes without feeling the urge to tap your feet!

I think The Animals have become very much a greatest hits band, probably because unlike their peers the group didn’t write much of their own material, so it’s quite interesting to listen to one of their original studio albums.There are two self-penned tracks on “Animalisms”, the best being “You’re on my mind” which is nice soulful ballad (the other track “She’ll return to me” is a bit of a Ray Charles clone), but the undoubted highlight of the record is the smoldering blues of “Gin House Blues”.The rest of the album is an enjoyable mix of soul, R&B & blues, done will the usual Animals panache.There is also nine bonus tracks, from singles, b-sides & EP’s, including the excellent “Inside Looking out”, “Don’t Bring me down” & “Help me girl”.The only criticism I have of “Animalisms” is that considering that this was the bands third album & it's was released in 1966, there isn’t a massive amount of creative evolution, the album doesn’t sound stylistically that much different form the music the Animals were recording in 1964.Still It’s a great album from a pretty unique band.

It's a needledrop, but it's the best sounding version of 'Animalisms' there is at the moment. Worth purchasing.

Wer sich die Animals-Box von 2013 mit den amerikanischen Plattenveröffentlichen, in astreinem MONO, wundervoll remastered, zugelegt hat, für diejenigen ist diese CD eine gute Ergänzung: Hier sind die paar Titel der UK-Version dabei, die auf der US-Version fehlen. Für alle anderen: Eine phantastische Platte, The Animals in Hochform und ein klasse Remastering der MONO-Bänder! Keine Wünsche offen!

時として狂気にも感じさせられる素晴らしい演奏に、まるで魔界に飲み込まれたかのような錯覚を覚え、心を奪われます。ヴォーカルとキーボードが素晴らしいのは言うまでもありませんが、ギターが、In Concert from Newcasleのライブ盤で感じることができるような超絶プレイです。いやしかし、すべてが素晴らしく、めちゃくちゃかっこいい！この演奏のかっこよさはBeatlesにはないものです。最高The Animals！
