Excellent sequel to the laughs, loves and ongoing saga of life in Jericho
4.5Following on from “Jericho” we catch up with Syd, Maddie, their foster son, Henry, along with all the friends and family in the small town we have come to love. When a devastating storm whips through the county it leaves a trail of destruction wider than a Camaro. In the aftermath the community needs to pull together, but some take longer to come to terms with their losses than others, and some need more help. In typical southern style the community comes together to make the most of whatever life throws at them. This isn’t a melodramatic and fast placed plot. It’s a continuation of the daily lives of the people we came to love in the first novel. Syd, Maddie and Henry develop into a family, Maddie’s mom, Celine, takes a more prominent, and frequently hysterical role, David and Michael are further developed and Roma Jean continues her adorable path towards adulthood along with a charming new character called Charlie. The wit and humour continue, with several laugh out loud moments and a classic portrayal of southern manners in the face of extreme provocation. Who would have expected southern belles to resort to a food fight? At the same time there are real emotions, hurts and fears underlying the polite façade, none more poignant than being gay in the small town South.Once again the writing is excellent, the wit razor sharp and the observation of human behaviour is right on point. Break with tradition and start reading this from the cover in, even if it’s an e-copy. McMan’s cast descriptions and play on words will amuse and entertain from the start.I thoroughly enjoyed “Aftermath”, it’s like coming back to a favourite movie or sitcom and finding out what happened a year after the main story, where the romance has gone, how everyone is doing, and what happen next. It’s a small local situation drama, where the characters take centre stage, and life moves along at its own pace, just like life does.

Loved it, but where's the happy ending?
Sequel to "Jericho" - read that first if you haven't already! The continuing story of Syd and Maddie and lots of the other residents of Jericho. More fabulous writing and banter between our main protagonists (the scene with Lu in the hotel in Charlotte had me in stitches). I didn't want it to end but sadly it did and on way too downbeat a note. Please, please Ann McMan write Syd and Maddie's happy ending! I've read most of the author's other books and whilst they're good, nothing matches up to the "Jericho" duo. At the very least, this should be a trilogy...P.S. Feb 2017 - have just spotted that Ann McMan is publishing a 3rd book in the series, 'Goldenrod', in July this year in paperback - please can we have that on Kindle asap?!! March 2017 - thanks Amazon! Kindle edition of 'Goldenrod' now on pre-order and am looking forward to June!

another winner
I read Jericho after Amazon kept suggesting the book as a good read. Being stubborn, I ignored the suggestion, and then gave in. Of course the book was great (please read my feedback on it) So when I saw Aftermath I didn't think that Ann McMan could follow her sucess of Jericho. Well she did!!! From the very first page I was gripped and it was another (can't put down book) I am not going to go on about the story, but anyone not reading this next book would be missing out on another great read. There are not many books these days that grip you from the start, but this did. Also, along with the drama, the laughter there was sadness and I have to confess to shedding a tear or two. Please do yourself a favour as a self-respecting lesbian and read Jericho and Aftermath. You won't be sorry.

Entertaining and sweet
Ann McMan doesn't write sophisticated literature but she sure knows how to tell a story in a fun and entertaining way. Additionally, there aren't that many lesbian fiction books out there so kudos to her for writing several. I read them all and they were good fun. Perfect for the beach :)

Awesome,gripping read!!!
Ann McMan has written yet another amazing book. If you haven't read Jericho first read it before Aftermath, and you will find yourself hooked from the start & not be able to put it down! Aftermath was well worth the wait!! Hoping for the story to continue.

EXCELLENT escapism reading at its best
Loved this follow on book after Jerico. As a late bloomer myself having books to read that include believable `real` lesbian characters is so refreshing. THANK You
