L-Lysine is one of the few supplements I normally get at a pharmacy (since it's one of the few supplements I CAN get at a local pharmacy), however one day I was running out and checked out Amazon, and came upon this "Amazing Formulas" Lysine at a much more affordable price and gave it a try. It's a lot cheaper than at the stores, but same amino acid supplement with all the benefits that come from L-Lysine.The most noticeable difference between this product and any brand bought at a store is that these come in capsule form rather than the big long tablets I've grown used to from every store brand. Was taken by surprise at first having never seen Lysine in capsule form, but they are easier to swallow.I don't need to go into detail about all the benefits of Lysine, which are of course well-documented online and in other reviews. If you suffer from cold sores, Lysine will help prevent them. In the brain L-Lysine competes with another amino acid L-Arginine (found in many foods, but the most abundant nutritional source of L-Arginine being nuts, peanuts, seeds, lentils). Too much L-Arginine is what enables the dormant herpes virus that causes cold sores to emerge and rear its ugly pus. But L-Lysine competes with L-Arginine, and having high levels of Lysine in your system will prevent Arginine levels from getting high enough for cold sores to develop. It goes without saying that if you want higher Lysine and lower Arginine, don't be taking L-Arginine (which is also available as a supplement). You can search online for "Lysine Arginine ratio" to see which foods have more of one or the other to try to balance them out nutritionally, however you may find as I did that many of your favorite foods have a lot more Arginine than Lysine (walnuts being the #1 offender!), so taking Lysine as a supplement is an easy way to counter that. Since I started taking high doses of daily Lysine supplementation I have not had to endure the weeks-long nightmare of dealing with a big gross embarassing cold sore under my lip.Besides the more well-known benefits, there is some evidence that Lysine can also help with anxiety, both by itself, and by potentiating the effects of anti-anxiety medications. Studies have found that Lysine by itself helps to naturally increase GABA, the neurotransmitter in the brain that calms anxiety. (Prescription benzodiazepine medications used to treat anxiety like Valium work by increasing GABA.) Lysine has also been found to enhance the activity of benzodiazepines, so if you are on medication for anxiety Lysine supplementation can provide an additional anti-anxiety boost, or possibly make you feel able to reduce your dose (never reduce your dose without consulting your doctor first). As someone who struggles with severe anxiety, I take relatively high doses of Lysine (minimum 2000mg daily, often more) and notice a tangible benefit in combination with my medication, whose effects I find last noticeably longer with higher levels of Lysine in my system.Those are my two personal big reasons for taking Lysine, obviously the many other benefits are advertised here, and also again you can search on the web. This is an excellent value for a large supply of Lysine in easy-to-swallow capsule form for a price much much cheaper than in any store, so definitely recommend.

I love this product and purchase it continually. I've been buying this brand for years. Amazon didn't have it for a time and sadly there wasn't anything nearly as good that I tried. This lysine is super effective. I take four capsules a day. It helps keep shingles at bay. If I skip it for awhile I notice I get the tingling in my back that precedes a shingle outbreak. Especially if you've suffered an assault from another sickness, like when I had covid these were a lifesaver. My immunity took a hit during that time, so I was susceptible to other things, and this helps build your immunity. It keeps canker sores and cold sores at bay as well as the shingle virus. I refuse to take vaccines and I have been well with a routine of lysine, essiac, and Echinacea. I always prefer the natural way if possible.

I take one of these daily and have for over ten years. It is a great product that helps boost immunity. I open the capsule and empty the powder into my morning shake.

If you get cold sores a lot or cracks at the corners of your mouth this supplement is a godsend. I used to get them all the time, and then one of my doctors recommend lysine. After just a few weeks of using it the cracks had completely healed. Now I don't get them at all, and I get much fewer cold sores, usually only if I'm under extreme stress. When I do, I just double the dose for a week or so, and they heal surprising quickly, usually with just a moisturizer needed to keep them from cracking. Great stuff. Just be sure to check with your doctor to make sure they won't interact with any medication you may be taking.

This is my second purchase of this Lysine, and the capsule size has changed. The capsule is about a millimeter shorter, but quite a bit fatter. I don't know if I would have ordered these again if I'd have known this. Maybe that's why it isn't stated. Still a good product, but be aware of the size issue.

These 500 mg capsules are so much easier to swallow than the 1000 mg tablets. I'm very glad I stocked up on these before the pandemic started. I'm taking these daily along with other immunity boosters and have stayed away from colds, flu and covid 19. I am also practicing social distancing and extreme disinfecting methods and not relying only on supplements to stay safe.Also my nails are so much stronger since I started taking these. There has been a noticeable improvement.I love this supplement and will continue taking it and I have recommended it to friends.

I was looking for a capsule that was more easy to swallow then the big hard horse size pills I was getting. I am happy with these and will continue to only get these!!! They keep my fever blisters at bay!

Great to get these in capsule form, every other brand of l lysine 500 mg I have tried are large hard to swallow tablets. I use them for cold sores recommended by my pharmacist and they have done an outstanding job of preventing them by taking just 1 a day. I was getting cold sores several times a month and since starting these I haven’t had one in over a year. Highly recommend this product
