I would give it a 10 if I could. Read below and I'll tell you why
I haven't 8 your old and a 10 year old son that both got these for Christmas. They are great little drones and fly a lot like the higher dollar drones that I have. They don't claim to be waterproof but my son flew it into a garbage can halfway full of water and the Drone was powered on for over 7 Minutes submerged under two feet of water. Once we recover the drone it was rinsed off shooken out and dried off with a towel really well then we turned it back on and continue to fly. Still no issues with it and this thing has taken a beating. Would highly recommend just make sure you put the blade protectors on they definitely help because I so far have not had any broken blades or any parts. Definitely impressed for the price and if you're considering it definitely by this one.

Not good, don’t recommend.
Hard to control. Was stuck on neighbors roof for months. It somehow survived once the wind blew it off. Keeps disconnecting from remote every second.

Worth the money.
This is a great little drone to start out. I bought it for our 7-year-old grandson for Christmas. We were afraid he was too young that he caught on to how to operate it very quickly it's very easy to use he has so much fun with it. The functionality with it is very easy for a 7-year-old.

Great!!
Gave this to my grandson for Christmas. He played with this off and on all day. He loved it and figured out how to use it on his own. At the end of the day, he had mastered flying and controlling this drone. It did not disappoint. Drone stayed up in the air, battery life was good, also.
