The Winsor & Newton Colour Mixing Guides: Watercolour Spiral-bound – 26 Oct. 2006

This is an amazing book. Using 25 colours, it contains 50 pages of colour mixes, each containing 40 new shades, creating over 2000 colours. Every shade you can imagine, you can find, so no need to spend money buying a lot of paint.

The delivery from Westland Books was speedy and the book, described as very good, is in fact like new. Very pleased with purchase.

Lots of colour wheel charts - not so much explanation that I was hoping for.My expectations were the problem here - it is a great book if you want colour wheels!

a great book, i bought this book with a set of Winsor and Newtons watercolours for my sonhis teacher recommended Winsor and Newton as they have the best colours and the quailty is goodthe book is a good guide to those using watercolours for the first time

SO useful! Wheels of colour shades allow you to match the exact colour and then see clearly what colours to mix and in what percentages.

I have just taken up acrylic painting as a hobby and thought this would be a great help. I does help but in my opinion it is a little bit to advanced for a complete novice like me. I hope that it will come in useful later on as I become more proficient in using Acrylics later on

Répond à mon attente, simple à comprendre et à utiliser, sans même traduire le mode d'emploi. Une couleur pour un visuel sur 2 pages, (couleur de base écrite en haut de la page gauche), 2 étoiles où chaque branche représente la couleur obtenu à partir de cette couleur de base, mélangée selon des proportions graduelles avec une autre couleur de la palette indiquée en début d'ouvrage et nommée sur la branche concernée. Permet ainsi de choisir des tons en harmonie. J'ai acheté pas mal d'ouvrage du genre, parfois imbuvable, c.'est le mieux. Je recommande.

Colour samples were too small, but book a handy pocket size

I haven't used it yet (taking a break from painting), but I will as soon as a new art piece strikes me. I had been having trouble mixing, blending colors just right for years. I would take my sweet, long time to be sure that the color or shade I wanted was just right. If I had not taken my sweet time and messed up I would have been so very unhappy. I know for sure this book will help relieve that stress from me as I continue to practice. Even if you are well taught in mixing and shading in watercolor, this is still a worthy guide just in case the process skipped your mind or skill.

水彩絵具の混色は難しい。色彩理論を知らない自分のような素人には、基本色セットを揃えるにも単色を買い足すにも試行錯誤しか無く無駄も多い。この本は裏表紙にも Concise guide とあるように基本色25色だけを選んで、その色同士を比率を変えて2000通りに混色したカラーチャートが総頁64頁の内50頁を占める。表紙にあるような長方形ではなく、頁の中央に1色を置き、周囲に他の８色を配置して見やすくレイアウトされている。しかし、その肝心の部分が「なか見検索」に無いのは残念だ。２色の混色だけだが、視覚的な本だから3色の類推も可能だし、自分のように別のメーカーの絵具もあわせて使っている初心者にも便利だ。
