Gripping tale of special forces life
Don't normally read this type of book but this one is outstanding. Everyone's heard of the SAS and SBS, but I wasn't even aware of the existence of 14 Company until I read this. The book is superbly written on every level and the author delivers a genuinely gripping account of a training programme of such intensity that one wonders how anyone manages to complete it, followed by vivid insights into actual operations in Ulster during the Troubles. The level of competence of these people is astonishing to the point of being almost incredible, and one wonders how they ever manage to reintegrate into 'normal' life. One gets a real feeling for the adrenalin rush and apprehension during operations, and the writer is notably balanced when speaking of the army's adversaries on both sides of the sectarian divide. 'Unputdownable' may be over used hype, but this is the real thing.

Great Book
A well written and detailed book - full of stories. Shame there wasn't more about Ops though, the book is mostly about training.

Now I have a much better knowledge of the impact the men and women we never heard about or ever new excisted, had in Northern Irland. Top Notch book for everyone who wants to learn about the unknown men and women to whom we thanks deeply without knowing who they were, these shadow warriors.
