Simply brilliant
Not only this is an excellently designed book it is an informative and inspiring book it is filled with all the information on the series but also cramed with the stories behind the toys and how they came to be and if you be young or old it will make you love the toys and if you have any hanging about in the old attic it will inspire you to dig them out and to enjoy them all over again James has done an excellent job here if you loved the series you will love this book, all I can say is get the series on dvd and get this book the rest is up to you that is the best recommendation I can do.

School children built a Full Scale Airfix Spitfire! This books tells how they did it.
This small hand-book is fine for loyal fans of Airfix, like myself. There are a few interesting snippets worth rediscovering about Airfix within this book. If you have seen the wonderful television show about a Full Scale Model Spitfire built by school children, then you may want to own this book as a reminder of that event. James May's best material seems to revolve around childhood memories, such as this piece of work.

Nice to remember
James May reflects back to the beginning if Airfix, where the company came from and some of the causes of its demise and resurrection under new control. The book follows his dream and final build of a life size Airfix Spitfire, together with the TV program. Great background and photos, takes me back to the 2 bob plastic bag, glue and smell of the paint. MAGIC

Nice little birthday present for brother. Lots of intereating facts that he didn't know about.

The packaging was perfect, but the book's dust jacket was torn on the spine (about 2 cm length.)The book itself was in good condition, and so the need for sellotape on the jacket's inner face is the reason for only three stars.Being a James May fan our son enjoyed the book, and if he noticed the repair he was too polite to mention it.

Great Book.
Really only bought this for the Airfix section as I missed the program that showed the building of the 1:1 BTK Spitfire.I must admit I never read the rest of it, but it is worth the price for the Airfix history and nostalgia.
