Fireangel Long Life Toast Proof Optical Smoke Alarm, SO-610

We have been without a fire alarm for sometime now as they always go off when you start cooking (or maybe it is just me making all the smoke in the kitchen?). But still we all know that they do, so we purchased this one and so far it has been great. We have cooked away happilly creating smoke galore and so far it does exactly what is says on the box, it doesn't go off when you burn the toast etc. Great item.

The last fire angel started going off intermittently but i suspect this was due to the large amount of work that had been done on the hosue resulting in lots of dust - purchased another of the same make -

Just received this today - so no word as yet on longevity or the battery issues some have pointed out on similar models.I ordered this as I'm familiar with the FireAngel name (although this is my first actual device) and the price was reasonable so I went for it. The promise of an (up to) 10 year battery means no more trying to keep a supply of 9V batteries handy which is also a bonus!However, I've knocked off one star because I've already lost 4 years of effective life from this product. I checked the back of it and it says "Replace by 2019" which is only six years away. Some others have been reporting getting models with 2021 on them and feeling a bit cheated, mine must have been sat in a warehouse gathering dust since 2009 on that reckoning?I suppose they could cover themselves by saying that although the battery should last 10 years, the actual device has a much shorter life as they never mentioned how long the fire detection component lasts. Ho hum.A backplate is supplied for mounting the device to along with two rawlplugs and two screws, I had it mounted up in around 5 minutes, no bother. The unit screws in to it however I found mine was quite tight but it got there eventually. The backplate also has a magnet in it, when you click the smoke alarm in place, it activates the power (just in case you were wondering why the device appears dead when you first get it out of the box!)Overall I'm happy with it, of course the next test only comes with time so I'll update this when I have more to say.

These are supposed to have a ten year battery life but I have already had to replace two of them within four years of purchase.

An excellent service and brand new product with an expiry date of 2027! I first had these smoke detectors fitted by the Fire and Rescue service some10years ago so have every confidence in their efficiency.

Good little alarms, brought to replace old ones, not cheap if they last 10 years I'll be well chuffed

Very pleased with turnaround time from this supplier. As for the product, having had many smoke alarms forever going off whenever we made toast (no the toast wasn't burning), I eventually found this smoke alarm on sale and since purchasing it, no more false alarms!!

Easy to fit, safe and reliable. Had a previous one for 10 years, great product.
