The Hasbro Beyblade Roar Tyranno 9-60GF (Gear Flat) Booster is an attack type Beyblade (Japanese spinning tops) engineered by Takara Tomy (TT; a Japanese toy manufacturer) as collaboration to market the newest generation of Beyblade in the US. Being a lone booster, this does not come with a Beyblade X launcher or stadium (both of which are required before use), a Blade called “Roar Tyranno” which is an echo of “Soar Phoenix” (aka ‘Phoenix Wing’ in Japan). The motif looks similar to the “Tyranno Beat” decal: the Japanese Bey with the same Tyranno moniker, although it has a different blade shape altogether. “9-60” is a very good 9-sided rachet that looks 3-sided but has 6 smaller bumps to make it 9 in total, and a “bit” (the part of the Beyblade that makes contact with the stadium floor) called “GF” which stands for “Gear Flat” and allows the bey to speed around the stadium to make more attacks at the cost of a loss of stamina. The gears are exaggerated, extending all the way to the bottom of the bit and allows Tyranno to rip around the stadium floor, but what is more important for this bit is the thick plastic burst resistor that makes it hard to burst in battle. Soar Phoenix is supposed to be one of the dominant attack beys in the early Beyblade X meta since it is heavier than most, and so naturally Roar Tyranno inherits this trait since it is only a more rounded-off re-skin of Soar Phoenix. However, it is confirmed to be slightly lighter, possibly due to being rounded off and has less pointy edges than Phoenix. It also seems to be made with the same materials, which is a win in-itself. In conclusion, the Roar Tyranno Beyblade booster is well worth the money with the strong attack blade and useful parts that it comes with, especially the 9-60 ratchet that is currently (at the time of this review) the cheapest way to obtain such a good part. This Beyblade X booster echo offers some collectible charm with its exclusivity, and it should also be welcomed by Beyblade fans for competitive play as I can see interchanging the parts from this booster with other beys and trying to participate in tournaments. It is therefore that I approve of this booster release [believe me, this feels strange as I know full well of Hasbro’s sales strategy and cost-cutting measures over the last decade]. Credit where it is due, and if you are listening Hasbro, here is to a decent job on this release. May there be more like it with the same good quality as TT in the future.
