10 year gaurantee not honoured
A screw dropped off within 2 months of using the item, called Spear and Jackson as advised by Amazon help page and they told me that they had asked Amazon to remove this message as I needed contact them directly. Just used the chat service and after 20 minutes was told I was not eligible for a refund even though it was faulty and under a 10 year gaurantee. Tried to call them but again no luck, I doubt Amazon will place this review as to protect themselves they will say this is inappropriate despite selling an item that is unfit for purpose and with a false guarantee. I would like to think that someone will contact me to follow up this appalling customer service situation and rectify the false advertising.I would now like to retract the above and thank the person who has just rectified this for me very quickly.

Super secateurs!
I absolutely LOVE these secateurs! I've had them for over a month now and they are still like new! They cut branches and twigs etc with ease, and the ratchet action means I can squeeze them once, release my grip, then squeeze again and the job is done! It's a godsend because I have greatly reduced strength in my hand/fingers and having these means I can still prune my shrubs easily and not struggle any longer. The blade is lovely and sharp and the scissor like grippers are easy for even the smallest hands to grasp (my own hands are ridiculously small too). They are obviously well made and I know they are going to last me a good long while. You can't go wrong with these!

Could be a faulty batch??
Broke within 5 minutes. Pin or similar fell out where the ratchet teeth are ( the pin/rivet holding the black and silver metal together) and no longer works as can no longer close to cut anything. !0 year warranty???? More like a 10 minute life span.Refunded.

Bad closure design
These secateurs take a little getting used to with the ratchet element. They are sharp and do the job hence the 3 stars. They lost 2 stars because of the clasp that holds it together. It’s a small plastic clip inside the handle that releases when the 2 handles are gently squeezed together. Unfortunately this gentle squeeze can cause them to open at any slight movement for example putting them in your pocket, in a bag or just picking them up. It is really annoying.

Absolutely perfect 👌
Absolutely love them, I read all the reviews about the bolt coming loose and could see what they mean so I tightened it then glued it down so no way could it come loose, been using nearly 4 hours every day for past two weeks and are more than perfect, there is not much they cant cut through due to the ratchet mechanism, making it easier to cut. The locking mechanism is also good no sharp blades left open...especially if you have loony dogs running around. I would recommend but make sure you tighten that bolt soon as you get them, guess was just a lousy batch that weren't tightened fully by manufacturer.

Works well, except for one problem ...
Was very pleased with this - it cuts through quite thick branches because of the ratchet mechanism. Looks well made and substantial. However, a vital link broke/fell off after just a week of use. Managed to fix it up using a small machine screw, but this shouldn’t have happened.

I expected a lot better.
These sequiturs are adequate but no more. I expected better to be honest. They are quite thin and certainly don’t feel sturdy enough to last more than a few years at best. The ratchet action is quite weak too. The blade also loses its sharpness quickly. I bought them to replace a pair I’d bought from my local market 15 or so years ago. I have gone back to those as my main pair and am currently searching for a better, new pair.
