Good audio quality. Not for extreme PROs.
I bought this audio system so I could use external mics with my Alpha 6000. It seemed to have some interesting features that could become in handy.First of all, what's in the box:1. The transmitter with its windscreen2. A AAA battery for the transmitter.3. Two mono earphones.4. This sports-like piece you put around your ear so the earphone won't fall off.5. The receiver with a piece of plastic that protects the connectors.6. Some kind of strap that I haven't figured out how to use it yet.7. A carrying pouch with a nice Sony label.8. And finally, A BUNCH of papers.Let's start explaining how this works. The smallest device is the receiver and it's plugged into the camera via the Multi Interface Shoe. It has a switch that changes between OFF, SINGLE, MONO MIX and 5.1 ch MIX. When you turn it off, the camera uses its built-in mic. The SINGLE mode is the one you'd use the most. It simply uses the audio captured by the transmitter, nothing else. MONO MIX mixes the audio from the transmitter and the audio from the receiver (yes, the receiver also has a mic, I'll talk more about it later) and the 5.1 ch simply doesn't work and so far I've seen, it doesn't work for anyone. On the top of the receiver there are two volume buttons that control the volume of the audio you hear thru the 3.5mm jack of the receiver. It doesn't control the gain of the audio that is being recorded in the video since this camera uses AGC. If you were to have a camera where you could control the gain, you would do that via the camera menu, not with this buttons. On the other hand we have the receiver. Most of the shape of the receiver is because of the AAA it takes to work. On the top you'll find the built-in mic, the indicator light and a pink 3.5 mm jack for attaching an external mic. On one side we have the power on-off switch and a volume control. In the other side we have another 3.5 mm jack but this one is for a earphone. I'll explain all this system just a little bit later. And in the 'back' of the transmitter we have a clamp so you can attach it anywhere, from a belt to a shirt. The interesting part about this system is how it works. The transmitter has a microphone jack so instead of using as a mic by itself -which works perfectly fine- you could attach any external mic. I've used a cheapy lavalier I got for about $3 and it works fine, and I have also used it with this Audio-Technica Directional Mic I got a few years ago. Both work perfectly fine. This way, you can have the transmitter clamped to your belt or in your pocket and talk to that mic. The receiver has a jack where you plug in a provided earphone so you can hear what the other person is saying or recording. There ends the expected part of this system, but what comes next is pretty cool. The receiver has also a mic, but it is not only for the MIX feature. You can talk to it and the other person can hear you with another provided earphone you plug in the side of the transmitter. This way, you can have the person with the receiver several meters away from you and tell them instructions. This is a really cool feature I like a lot.AUDIO QUALITYThe system is bluetooth and I can have the other person like 25 meters away from me and the audio is not interrupted at all. If you go far away, you'll start loosing the signal. There's some significant and constant hiss. Nothing that could drive you crazy, I have even heard more hiss in some TV shows, so it isn't anything that makes the audio useless, but it is there. I'm sure you can get rid of most of it with Audition and end with pretty good audio quality. I haven't tested it with more expensive mics.CONCLUSIONSI bought this audio system mainly for interviews and for that it's perfectly fine. You get that WOAH factor when the interviewee sees you are in the other side of the road giving instructions to your interviewer and you can talk each other. It could even be used for spying purposes maybe(?).Anyways, I wouldn't expect less for how much I paid for this.If you're looking for extremely premium audio quality with no hiss at all and all those features, you'd have to buy a sound recorder and sync the audio later. But If you're lazy like me and you don't want to sync audio in post and you want just fine audio, you can't get wrong with this audio system.

Sony ECMW1M + NEX-6
I am extremely happy with this setup. I own a Sony Nex-6 which I've been trying to use to capture high quality video for business.Great video also needs great, dynamic audio. I initially purchased the Sony ECM-XYST1M which works well, That unit picks up audio very nicely but there are time where you are shooting interview style or really just want the audio from the person on camera and not a lot of the background.Well the ECMW1M works great. The smaller piece fits in the cameras a multi-shoe and the longer piece with a clip works as a microphone. What's even better is it has a line for a mic such as a clip on mic or if you want to go news reporter style you can get a wired handled mic for 3.5mm, attach it to the ECMW1M and clip it your pocket and your good to go.The other feaure I really like is both pieces have a 3.5mm port for headphones. What this allows you do is hear audio from the other peripheal. For example if I am in front of the camera with an ear bud in my ear I can hear the camera operator. There is a mic in the unit that attaches to the camera that only relays to microphone piece. So say your're doing an interview and you get stuck forget a question, or there are people in the back ground dancing behind you. With an ear bud in your ear you can hear the person behind the camera giving you instructions, the next question etc. Also the person behind the camera can hear you crisp and clear. If you own an Nex-6 like I do you may see a message when you add the attachment that says it is NOT SUPPORTED but let me assure you I have great sounding audio when using the Sony ECMW1M. I may get the message because a mic isn't supported in standard film mode. I don't know but I can tell you that the audio works great

Hissing sound right out of the box and then Bluetooth receiver failure within on hour.
I never complain...but this time I'm angry. I have had a wireless device for 12 years so I know the basics. This Sony Mic had hissing noise out of the box. Did all the usual checks like change battery, double check and clean connections, etc. Bluetooth set up fine, simple, easy. Then within an hour the bluetooth device does not recognize my Sony a6000. I have made numerous attempts to re-create the connection to no avail. Second attempt a day later...was able to recreate the connection although the hissing noise remains. Borrowing another camera from a friend today to see if my unit is bad.

Good System
I've used it a couple of times now. The ability to monitor the audio is a plus, because it allowed me to detect when I was getting out of range in real time and I was able to move closer to my subject. My reliable range was about 30 or 40 feet, and obstructions played into that. There is a but of a system noise that is noticeable, but not distracting. It's also consistent enough that you can notch it out in post-editing if if bothers you. Overall I'm pleased with it for capturing audio without the need to be right on top of my subject.

Microfono bluetooth di alto livello
Pacco consegnato nei termini previsti e ben sigillato.Classica confezione Sony robusta.

Ravi!
