From a Former GNC Mega-Men User (Many Years)
I was (and still am) a big proponent of GNC products. The quality of their products is typically beyond reproach. But for me, the Optimum Nutrition Opti-Men won me over, even after years of using GNC Mega Men. Supplement products work differently among different people. Some swear by vitamins and other supplements, some swear they do not work. In my personal situation, I find that multi-vitamins do provide me benefits such as energy, focus, and mood. I know this because I will regulalry not take any vitamins or other supplements for approximately one month out of the year, more based on habit, than anything else. I simply want to "clean out" my system. It is during this period I recognized and continue to recognize the benefits I receive from a good multi-vitamin. While I agree with some reviewers there is a chance this is all based on a placebo effect, nevertheless, when I am off a multi-vitamin, I lose focus and energy noticably. Comparatively, I believe the Opti-Men Multivitamins are a better fit for my lifestyle (maybe not yours) based on the difference in how I feel when taking these versus the GNC Mega Men's. Both are great vitamins in my opinion. However, the Opt-men's provide additional ingredients such as L-Arginine, Saw Palmetto, L-Lysine, and a host of other Amino Acids the GNC multi-vitamins do not. This could simply mean I was deficient in terms of such ingredients of course. Additionally, the B-Complex is higher in Opti-Men's than the GNC vitamin. There have been some reviewers who commented on a Consumer Reports publication that reports, "Opti-Men contained 1.62 mcg of lead per daily serving. Although this amount is unlikely to be harmful in itself, lead exposure should be avoided. The State of California requires warning labels on supplements that provide more than 0.5 mcg of lead per day." I do not advocate consumption of lead (obviously). However, my understanding is that 1) this is not unusual and 2) it is no danger. In fact, many itens we consume contain varying degrees of lead. Not to say I want to consume lead, but that it is not as big a deal as some would indicate. In the end, this product works for me. I am sure there are many fine products out there that stand alongside the Opti-Men product. In my case, I just prefer the Opti-Men based on my experiences.

Nice energy levels, feel healthy
I have a decent diet, in that I eat good, healthy, nutrient dense foods (for the most part - not including occasional fast food on the weekends or my odd cravings for ramen). The shortcomings in my diet relate to caloric intake and pacing of meals. I often do not have time in the morning and I'm simply not hungry for a couple of hours after I wake up anyway, so my breakfast consists of snacking on sesame sticks or mixed nuts at work or eating an Odwalla bar. I do not eat lunch unless a co-worker brings something in for everyone. I come home from work and eat a moderately sized dinner. At the end of the night, I may eat something which falls between "snack" and "meal". I make each meal "count" as best I can. All in all, I know I'm not getting all of the proper energy or nutrients that I need because of this inadequate schedule, even though the quality of foods I do eat is fairly high. I feel VERY tired by the end of the work day (because of no lunch) and even develop headaches around 4:00 PM. By the time I get home and prepare and eat dinner, it takes a while for that intake of energy to hit me, so I'm lethargic and feel miserable for a couple of hours. I decided to improve my situation with a multivitamin. I've read mixed things about taking supplements, but I think a lot of the criticism revolves around poor quality products and people who are overdoing their intake. ON makes good products (I've used their whey protein for a while) and I limit myself to one pill/day instead of three (which is the serving size). Since taking the vitamins, I feel much healthier. I'm awake, alert, and have energy to get through the work day without crippling lethargy or headaches. I can't speak for my long term health. I have not noticed any symptoms and I can be a hypochondriac, so I will monitor myself closely. I will update in the future on whether the positive effects of taking these vitamins has continued, how it aids with a work out, and any ill effects.

Good for energy, bad if you dont' like your urine neon yellow
I've been taking vitamins for a while and have taken Centrum and Men's One A Day regularly for years. I tried this a while back, then came back to it again recently. The first thing you notice is that the dosages is THREE tablets a day. That's a lot, compared to your typical one a day multi vitamin. However, I have noticed that this vitamin affects me a little bit differently. Perhaps it's all in my head, but this does seem to give me a bit of additional energy, probably because of all the B vitamins. Thus, I like to take it in the morning before I go to the gym, as it seems to keep me going longer and stronger. Also, if I take it before bed, it tends to keep me awake, further bolstering the notion that the B vitamins are helping. On the other hand, that's probably the reason why my pee is neon yellow when I take this - I mean, it's like nothing I've ever seen before. Think of a yellow highlighter, and that's literally what you see. From what I understand, that's generally all the vitamins simply passing through your system because your body cannot absorb them all. If that's true, are the B vitamins even working??? I've been on these for about 9 months now and I like them for the energy factor. I've also been on Optimum Nutrition whey protein for years, so I believe in ON as a company and believe they made very good quality products. So are these worth the extra money? Hard to say. I like the extra energy, and I take 1 or at most 2 tablets a day, so it last longer then the recommended dosage would. I say if you live an active lifestyle like me and you're curious, give it a try. Just don't be shocked when you hit the john for the first time after taking it.

Perfect Multivitamin for Men BUT TAKE CAUTION
CAUTION: This product covers all that you need and a little more, in fact, I'd say taking the recommended dose (3 a day) is big-time overkill. One a day is more than enough, you have to take into account that you'll be getting plenty of the included nutrients in your meals. Even if you are a gym rat, one pill a day in conjunction with 4-6 meals a day and protein shakes is perfect. Also take note of the vitamin A, D, E, and K concentrations. You will be getting high doses if you take 3 pills, and that can actually be very dangerous. These are fat-soluble vitamins and you're body will store these in your liver if you take too much. So although you feel great and energized, and see no harm in taking 3, 20 years down the road you might run into some serious medical problems. You should always drink plenty of water, but make sure you definitely do so with this supplement, you want to minimize any stress on your body, and drinking plenty of water will do the trick. Also, do not worry if you pee highlighter yellow, it is normal with this product because it contains Vitamin B2 (also known as riboflavin) this is water soluble and any excess will simply be flushed out through your system. Initially I was worried, because I thought I wasn't drinking enough water and hence my pee was yellow, but after researching and talking to a friend of mine who is a physician, my mind was put to ease. He laughed and told me it was the vitamin B2 and it was normal! Regardless, drink plenty of water. This is the perfect product for men, as a daily supplement, simply for a healthy lifestyle or for working out and getting big. Whichever your case may be, I strongly advise taking only 1 pill daily. Be strong, be healthy -Goku

Amazing Product!
I will stay short and sweet, buy this product if you are even remotely considering a good multi! Hands down the best bang for you buck and it's created by Optimum Nutrition, which I believe is one of the finest quality companies in the business. For the price alone this product is a steal, just look at the amount of products packed into these pills and tell me its not. Go to Animal or GNC and buy their 30 day supply vitapacks for $60 and you get NOTHING. Do not waste your money on anything else. This has your vitamins, herbals, amino acids, and every supplement you could ever want. This product gave me energy, it reduced muscle fatigue, and in combination with the ON Gold Standard Protein and working out, I lost 21 pounds and put on lean muscle mass. With 180 pills this stuff will last you quite awhile. I was only taking 1 pill a day at one point because a lot of the product you will just piss out, but 2-3 pills a day certainly doesn't hurt and depending on your lifestyle that may be desireable. The pills are large, may smell odd, and certainly wouldn't taste good but hello?! look at what's in them. This is not supposed to be some tiny aspirin pill, rant over. P.S. this will give you neon yellow pee, do not fret, its just from the products in it. BUY THIS, in fact I'm going to buy another bottle right now.

Careful with dosages...
After completing 2 rounds of classic P90X...I have started on a 3rd round with this time focusing on the lean approach rather than doing another round of classic. Ironically enough by the end of my 2nd cycle I had just ran out of GNC's Mega Man sport multivitamin and started back on my old bottle of Men's One A Day Sport as a filler until I decided to reorder a new set of multivitamins since I didn't see much performance using the GNC Mega Man multivitamins. I decided this time to go with Optimum Nutrition as I have already used their Whey Protein and Creatine during the P90X program and knew their products were legit. It was then that I got my monthly Consumer Reports magazine which centered around a main article regarding vitamins and supplements ([...]). If you are undergoing a relatively healthy and balanced diet of Protein/Carbs/Fats then I would say the recommended dosage of the OptiMen Vitamin is severe overkill. 3 pills a day is just extreme since the amount of Vitamins/Minerals will put you way beyond the threshold of a safe recommended daily value. Once you factor in the Vitamins/Minerals you will receive from daily nutrition, I would suggest that 1 pill a day would suffice. Remember this product is a dietary supplement meaning its used to supplement a deficiency of vitamins/minerals for people who have poor nutrition or a medical condition which inhibits digestion/food absorption. If your even taking this multivitamin I would already assume you are doing some type of rigorous fitness routine, and thus would already be practicing a balanced diet. As far as energy goes - I really felt no difference taking this vitamin before working out...to be honest I had no real sudden bursts of energy and I wasn't lifting any higher weights or crunching higher reps.

A Quality Product
Background: I would characterize myself as a fitness enthusiast (weight lifting tri-weekly, swimming, running) and also an avid fan of nutrition. While I was ordering some more Whey protein and CLA pills from Optimum Nutrition, I stumbled upon their multivitamins. I follow a healthy lifestyle, but wanted to take a multivitamin as insurance. The Product: First, the product came in the expected timeframe, condition was perfect, so absolutely no problems. The suggested use of the product recommends 3 tablets daily with food. Since I do not weigh as much as some of the bodybuilders who use this products, I decided to stick with a twice daily dosage with food and it works fine. A non-harmful side effect of these pills can be a brightly yellow (neon) urine from time to time, but that is natural as the intestines cannot absorb all of the nutrients packed within these pills. By taking it with food, this appears to happen less often. I believe these pills deserved a 5-star review because one does not have to consume a vast quantity of pills like some other proucts ( Universal Animal Pak Sports Nutrition Supplement, 44-Count ) and because, when doing my own research regarding some of the ingredients in this product, I found them all to be acceptable. For example, ON uses d-alpha tocopheryl, which is the natural type of Vitamin E in comparison to dl-alpha tocopheryl. Yes, there is lead in this product, but a trace element of lead, which is not harmful when looking at the variety of foods in our diets that contain more lead.In contrast to another reviewer's belief that consumerlabs is unheard of, they are the labs behind Consumer Reports, but they cannot support a multivitamin with even traces of lead. That being siad, I also want to ensure potential buyers that the copious amount of vitamins will not be harmful if taken as directed because most of the vitmains are soluble, and are not toxic in large doses. I also appreciate the fact that ON has a few blends specifically for men in this product, including a virility blend. I hope my review will help you make a conscious decision in what you end up purchasing. DISCLAIMER*: This is my first review on the Amazon website, but I am in no way a paid reviewer of ON.

pretty good product
i recently became concerned with my health this year i and wanted to try taking multivitamins. these are a good bargain for the price. normally vitamins like this can cost up to $30 or more but you get a deal if you buy the 180 tablet bottle. it also contains natural ingredients like many fruit and vegetable powders within a tablet. it also contains minerals and nutrients like magnesium, copper, zinc calcium etc. and up to six vitamins. there were some side effects i experienced the first week like headache and bright yellow urine but nothing to serious. these are common side effects of multivitamins when you first start taking them. it means your body is simply getting used to the supplements. the yellow urine means that you are expelling allot of extra vitamin c. It also says made in America which is rare now a days. as for me getting healthier sense i started taking them I have been having more energy and I do feel more healthier. I started with three the first day but after a bad headache i went to two a day. maybe it is because of my health status and my age. (I'm 23 and 30 lbs overweight) now i have been eating better and working out more and i feel even better with these multivitamins. I'm defiantly buying more when i run out.

Opti-men
Bought this to take as a multi daily. It is a nice multi vitamin. I only take once a day because of all the vitamins. I can't stand the smell and they can be a bit hard to swallow.

Great value
Great value for a daily multivitamin, though I don't see the need to take three per day.

Great Multi-vitamin!
I really like this one. It doesn't taste so bad when you take it. 3 a day is easy enough to maintain. Bodybuilding.com doesn't sell this product in Canada. Thanks Amazon!

Good value
It's similar to the GNC brand men's mult-vitamins at a much better price. The pills are rather large, which may bother some people, but I don't mind it.
