MACHINE SHOP KNOW-HOW
A**R
this is the BEST book on milling and lathe work that I have!
I highly recommend that this should be the first machining book that a beginning, part time or a wannabee machinist should purchase. I wish that I would have come across this book years ago as it would have saved me hundreds of dollars that I spent on buying roughly 20 or so basically worthless milling books prior. This book is very well written like a college textbook and covers so many important topics. The author really did his research when he put this together. Really, do yourself a big favor and buy this book first if you are getting into this hobby, you will not have to buy another machining textbook. And no, I don't know the author and I don't receive a penny for my comments.

Good Basic Book About Machining
This book is a mixture of somewhat advanced topics and very basic topics. There are some articles about large equipment, as well as benchtop lathes and mills, which seems a little odd to me.Overall, as an amateur machinist, I've learned something on almost every page. I didn't know that there was so much to know about files, for example.I give this book a thumbs up!

Good bathroom material
I do like this book, read it in one sitting (not on the toilet!). There are a lot of good tips in there, but nothing mind shattering. There a some shop jigs/tool ideas in there as well. The only one I've actually made was the grinder tool rest. Really good read though and worth the purchase!

Excellent Book
This book is filled with great information. I am not an experienced machinist, but have used some of the suggestions already.

Full of information and well written
I already knew much of the material, but I haven't had any machines for almost 20 years. Now I have found some of the memory banks have faded and need some jogging to recall the information, this book is as written a joy to read and a easy reference to look-up information, much more than machinery's handbook.. There are also several new approaches that I think might be faster than "my way". Technical books are not cheap, but this I think is worth it. This is not a replacement for the machinery's handbook, but still a wealth of information.

Indispensable Shop Manual
I am a beginning hobbyist machinist. I had purchased the author's Machine Shop Essentials, which is great, but wanted more so I bought this. It's a goldmine of information, and not just for the machinist but anyone working with metal. Even subjects that seem mundane like filing and grinding are illuminated by Marlow.

best written book on machining
Probably the best written book on machining I have come across. This book has a wealth of information that I have not seen before.

Valued resource.
This publication has so much information that more than one reading is necessary. Each chapter inspired an idea that interrupted my concentration on a cover to cover reading. Things from workspace organization, tool care and inspection to interesting shop aids and adaptors. I would recommend this book to people of any skill level to support, remind or inspire work with machines used to create products of their imagination.
