Comprehensive
Level of detail and quality of reproductions are nothing short of amazing. As Singer Sargent is my favourite painter, I could think of no album series that could better capture his work, his techniques, his preparatory studies, his perspectives on art and approach to his subject matter.

Yet another high-quality edition of Sargent's work.
Having previously purchased Sargent: The Later Portraits, I was confident that yet again I would be purchasing a well-researched collection of artwork, resplendent with high-quality reproductions and littered with sketches and studies by the prolific and masterful artist, John Singer Sargent. What this book offers (aside from the wonderful full-page reproductions) is an insight into his landscapes, a small amount of religious work, a selection of studies he completed based on work by the Old Masters (Velasquez, etc.) and a beautiful selection of work from his visits to Spain, Morroco and Vienna.Like the other books in this series, it's worth every penny. Just make sure your bookshelf is sturdy enough to hold them!

Quality
This book is very good quality, full of fine reproductions of the artist's work, as well as interesting details about each work.

A book to cherish.
If you don't have the money, pawn the wife and kids. This book is a revelation. Beautiful reproductions, fascinating detail, and above all, paintings one never sees in other Sargent publications, and what paintings! Virtuoso brushwork to rival Valasquez, freshness to rival any impressionist, and a range that I am not aware of in any other artist. There is a picture of two octopi which fairly quiver on the sheet. And even the monumental oils have a spontaneity that rival that of any preparatory sketch. And the figure/landscape paintings are so much more joyful and personal than many of the portraits. I think there are at least two more in this series of the catalogue raisonne. I can hardly wait. If you buy one art book this year.......
