Fairly clear the author did not intend this to be a book which would cover all aspects of Maine history in the brief yet interesting periods selected. Nevertheless, This excellent book provides an easily readable history lesson about some aspects of Maine history you most assuradly would not have had as part of your public school or college Maine history classes and ones which highlight important Maine characters who played centeral roles in that states formation. It very much enjoyed the books well deserved review of Maines contributions to the formation of our great Untited States Navy. I render a sincere and respectful salute for a job "well done".

Great book which brought to my attention certain details about a state I love. Brings greater understanding to why certain things are the way they are and how things happened within the state

This could have been a great work if there was a better weave of the stories. Instead, they seemed disconnected.

I really enjoyed this book. It starts pre Revolutionary War and continues through war heroes, business leaders to artist. An enjoyable quick read.

I enjoy the read. Maine being my home State, I find its old history most precious! Maine People are very unique!

this was a good read; enjoyed reading about the history of Maine through learning about the individuals who played a significant part in contributing Maine as it is today.
