Works great. Just pay attention to your preferred install method.
This worked great in my application. Its thick and meant to be screwed to the walls, with the wallboard AROUND it, not under it. Which is fine because I used Kerdi board and taped the seams.

Heavy, nice quality. Requires a finish
This is built from thick, heavy plastic. Almost like fiberglass/plastic. It is robust, and should be very strong when installed in a wall. There are a few things I noticed, that could be a deal breaker for some people. First of all - the exposed screw holes. They are on the face of the flange, and would be pretty hard to hide if you are not wanting them to be exposed. It can be done, if you recess the flange to the face of the wall, and just tile over them. I planned to use this exposed, with its natural black finish. Which, I will not be doing after all. The natural black finish is not a finish at all.I assume this niche is designed to be tiled over. With that being said - it seems rather challenging to seal, since it does not have a flat bottom on the flange face. (see pic).It does include a shelf, much like a kerdi-board shelf. It is made of low density foam, and has a skrim material over it for accepting thin set.The size is good - a nice large one piece niche. We will be using this in a sauna, so it will work perfect for our application.

Great Product and Easy to Work With
The build quality, size, and ease of installation was great. Once installed, they’re super easy to tile on and functional as described.Likes. For installation, they have rows of screw openings along all edges to make securing it down a breeze. The screw openings are also countersunk so maintains a flat surface. The box feels super sturdy and the depth of the edges was perfect to line up with 1/2” cement board. The final product looks great and was great value for the money. It was also easy to tile over and was WAY cheaper than similar products from Shluter, etc.Dislikes. As with all nooks like this, you have to add framing to incorporate them. When you build a custom nook, you can use the space you have. With these, you’ll end up having to cut thru 2x4s to make it center right. It’s not a big deal and isn’t unique to this item. It doesn’t include the screws —but if you’re framing for this you’ll have cement board screws or something to work with anyways.Great product —would buy again. Make sure you have screws and silicone (to cover screw holes) on hand.

Great Niche to Tile Over
This should not be confused with the niches now on the market that are made of stainless steel and are supposed to be installed with no tile. This is the more typical niche that must be tiled over.It is a good generous size and will look wonderful installed horizontally. I always like wider niches because they look more elegant. I would not use it with the shelf because that would only be for vertical installations.I'm excited to use this for my next remodel!
