Product is made with old school lard.
I really, really wanted to like this product. I eat MRE's and many other canned/preserved foods but this one will not be in my wheelhouse. I expect these type of foods to have high amounts of bad for you stuff for preservation but this one kind of topped the charts...per 15 oz can...90% of your saturated fat, 69% of sodium for 1 day with only 440 calories. Didn't cook it flat (bunched in a plastic bowl) and the not so good for you stuff collects at the top...4 or 5 tablespoons full. The texture was messy, sometimes grainy but taste wasn't bad. Best by date is May 26 2024, canned goods stored properly last past the stamped date but then there is always that question mark in the back of your mind. Other canned items I have ordered recently have averaged a late 2025 date, even canned fish. Honestly, at the bad food percentages vs volume vs caloric intake in an emergency situation...starve or have a heart attack/stroke. We all have our preferences so. Not going to knock the product too badly but it isn't for me for the reasons above.

Best canned tamales!
I know I can get good, fresh tamales from local places but I really LOVE these. They tamales may be small, but the flavor is big—they don’t taste like they come from a can.I never intend to eat all of them, two make a nice meal with beans and rice, but I always finish the whole can ‘cause they’re so good!

Best Canned Tamales
Best tasting canned tamales I've ever had. Not overly greasy like others, there is less "dough" and more filling than others, and the taste is much better. Only downside is they are still loaded with sodium. Price was about the same as others when buying the 3 can deal. I like'em!
