Beautiful Mass
I bought the Bren1 Record Clamp mostly for the aesthetics.Just about all the expensive turntables in ads seemed to be wearing theseweights/clamps and I thought they looked real cool. Maybe it could make my own humble setup look better. The Bren one as inexpensive as it is, was one of the better looking clamps on the market. Now don't get me wrong I understand the thinking behind the reasoning of the purpose (that didn't make any sense)but like so much in the audiophile realm I figured there was a lot of snake oil lubricating the pitch. The sales pitch. To quote the famous philosopher Ricardo Montalbán (as personified by Billy Cristal)"I rather look good than feel good". A quote I thought was very apt for the Bren1. And boy does the Bren1 look good. But along the way I also found out that it also "feels good". To be more precise it makes you feel good. You feel good when you put on a record and you begin to notice how much tighter every note seems. How the highs are a little more airy and the bass is ever so more detailed and controlled. And then comes the day when you forget to put the clamp on and you find yourself wondering if you forgot to clean your stylus or maybe you have a loose cartridge lead. Something is wrong. And than you notice you left the clamp off. That's when I became a believer. Hey hey for The Monkees! (I couldn't help myself). Will recommended to any one willing to listen.

Clamp works well but it can't be used with the cover down with my REGA turntable (it sits too high). That is a bummer since the ad claims that it can be used with all REGAs.

Great Weight, but measure first!!!
First off, this is a record weight, not a clamp - it works solely by gravity. That being said, the build quality of the weight is excellent - very nicely machined, with a beveled hole to help in placing it on the spindle. The knurled top is very handy, and is a necessity in my mind - the last thing you want is to have one of these slip out of your hands over your table/vinyl! The satin finish matches perfectly with my vintage Pioneer PL-630. I will be totally honest and say I can't tell much difference sonically using the weight. However, it is very helpful when playing records with a slight warp, as the weight helps flatten out the album and greatly decreases the amount of "bouncing" on the arm and cartridge. The one "caution" I would raise is with the height of the weight. I have five turntables in use in my house (it is a sickness of mine!), and there is only one on which I can use the weight with the dustcover in the down position. This was totally my fault; the seller clearly states the height of the weight. Many people play albums with their dustcovers off, and for those persons I recommend this without reservation.Overall, this product (made in the USA to boot!) is highly recommended.

Great product - excellent value
Prompt, professional and friendly service. Gilabend shipped the product on the day of receipt of my order. It arrived well before the estimated date (by International post). The product works as described and has significantly improved my enjoyment of vinyl record replay on my mid-range hi-fi system. Greater transparency and soundstage. Background rumble has reduced. I really couldn't be happier and I have no hesitation recommending this product and this supplier.

Very nice product
After reading the reviews of the Bren1 Record clamp, I decided to give it a try. While I am not a complete audiophile (don't have that much money), I do enjoy great sound. There were quite a few reviews that stated that the Bren1 increased the dynamics. I think that they missed the mark on this. From my opinion, what it does is remove the background rumble. This in turn allows the sound of the record to come through more clear. I did not notice an increase in bass. As a matter of fact, it seemed to decrease ever so slightly. However, because the backgound noise was removed, it appeared to sound punchier. As for flattening out warped records, It does nothing if the warp is on the outside of the record.I would highly recommend this product as it does a great job and is easy to use. Just place it on the turntable when you are ready to start playback. Sit back and enjoy.I purchased this because I am in the process of transfering some of my old albums to CD. It is working well for me.
