Highly recommended.
I must say that these boots are excellent, all-weather walking boots. I usually wear a UK size 8, ordered 8 1/2 but they were returned to Amazon as I found them too small and replaced with a UK 9. They are comfortable when walking but tend to be a bit on the tight side if worn all day. If I purchase another pair in the future they will be 9 1/2 just to relieve that feeling of tightness by the end of a day of wearing. Well made, lovely boots, highly recommended. <<UPDATE>> After wearing these boots for a month or so I noticed my feet getting wet after rain. But once winter 2020 approached and having worn them occasionally for six months or so I noticed they were regularly letting in water. The seams were beginning to split and the sides of the boots beginning to crack. This was the second pair I'd purchased, the previous about a year prior and they suffered from the toe-cap splitting away from the main body of the boot. I put that down to having done quite a lot of walking on rough ground. This second pair had much less to contend with and the same faults appeared. If you expect waterproof boots with this brand and model, you will be disappointed. They are comfortable but not durable. Their lifetime guarantee has not been tested but I do have a mind to claim but what does a lifetime guarantee even mean? What is less debatable is their claim to be waterproof. They are not. The manufacturer should spend some money on stitching and not on glue to hold their boots together. Buy something else.

Great Hiking shoes - Actually waterproof
Great all year round hiking boots but they have a really annoying flaw. Good: Comfortable Actually Waterproof in very wet conditions. (Wet grass and flowing water) Breathable as well! (Most waterproof boots are not very breathable) Good grip Lightweight Bad: The shoe has a big dip above the heel which i think is there to make the shoes easier to take on and off; when walking, I constantly flick stones, mud and water into the back my shoe. This feels horrible, especially this time of year. And sometimes stones get wedged between the back of my foot and the shoe which REALLY hurts. It comes sharp!

So far so good, I usually buy good budget boots....
As a family we have used northwest territories and johnscliffe boots for years (and recommended them as fantastic no nonsense functional waterproof walking boots) but these were offered at a price contemporary to the above so tried them out and turned out a good test of the above budget brands too! I got them for £47.00, similar to the above The not so good (only my opinion) They have fabric Lacing system - nw and johnscliffe have brass hardware They have no leather over the tongue - the budget boots have leather panel on the tongue The lining feels a little cheap, the budget boots have a nicer lining - and as a result they seem pretty warm, ok for cooler weather but even during this mild winter/spring they have felt too warm, so jury out on breathability at the moment Too much stitching and style over substance design that could lead to water ingress in the future...? The good! The leather is really nice, a treated waxed finish, better than the budget boots, although not as thick... But not much in the weight of either. The laces are flat - in my experience they hold much better. The sole unit seems tough, good feedback and resistance to sharp stones, although the nw and johnscliffe also have fabulous soles. Tread pattern sheds mud reasonably well Waterproofness seems very good so far, grass, puddles, streams... Although again the nw and johnscliffe are excellent in this respect Although narrower than the budget boots they are comfortable and feel more at one with my foot than my usual boots - I have narrow feet though, so you may prefer the nw or johnscifoe this reason alone. They take gwax well! Overall? All mentioned are general walking boots, at £140 I couldn't justify these and would stick to, most likely, the johnscliffe canyon - amazing tough boot. Although, if caught on sale then these seem built well, comfortable and should be a solid trustworthy companion

Hard wearing for dog walking
This is my second pair of these boots. The first stopped being waterproof after two years and I still use them on dry days for walking the dogs. There is plenty of wear in the sole and the heel inside is solid. A number of pairs of cheaper boots have metal in the heel that bends over time and hurts the heel. I've worn the first pair pretty much all day every day for three years and expect this new pair will be as good as the first. Yes they do appear slightly expensive, but they have lasted so well compared to other under £50 boots that claim the be waterproof and durable but fail in under 6 months. And they're light to wear too.

Comfort and reliability
Well worth spending the money to get the most reliable and comfortable walking experience and the security of knowing that your feet will always be warm and dry.

Great walking boots.
A very well made product, size fits as expected. The boots are a nice comfortable fit. These should be excellent for hiking, especially over rough terrain due to the thickness & grip of the sole.

Good boot (2nd time around) - until that pair leaked as well
The purchase was Amazon standard - quick, well packed and good communication. The first pair of boots was initially OK. Fitted well, didn't need breaking in and was comfortable to wear/walk in. After about 4 months it seemed like the right boot was not waterproof. Somewhere in the toe there was a leak. I used them daily and about 2 weeks in, after walking in wet (OK very wet) grass I could wring out my sock - but only the right one. Contacted Amazon and a replacement (offered a refund too) was quickly on the way. So far (2 months) they are standing up well. I have had Berghaus boots before and were generally pleased with them. On the "pro" side, these seem a little higher than previous ones and give better (good) ankle support. They are comfortable and - so far - seem hard wearing, with no sign of wear on the soles. As opposed to the last pair, they seem waterproof (again, so far). On the "cons" side, only minor things. The laces are flat woven material rather than the round cord ones that I am used to. That makes them harder to un-knot, particularly when wet. The loops that the laces run through are also material, not metal, and I suspect that they will fray over time. Lastly, I would prefer to have the top 3 lace loops as quick release rather than just the 2 that there are. Can't fault Amazon for the way they dealt with my issue. hopefully the boots will be as successful. Now 3 months with the new boots and they leak as well. The left one this time (shame I didn't keep the first pair - I would have had a waterproof set). The last 3 days walks have all ended with the left sock soaked and water dripping from the boot, and only wet grass - no real water as such. Shame as it has spoilt the regard I have for the brand. I will be complaining to Berghaus directy and getting in touch with Amazon (again).
