Return to Central
This ninth volume of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga sees Ed, Al and Winry return to Central only to discover the fate of Lieutenant Colonel Hughes. At the same time Second Lieutenant Ross is arrested and charged with Hughes' murder, something that very few people believe to be possible. While still a good volume with some nice advancement to the plot of the series, this volume probably isn't as good as some of the previous ones as it is mostly setting things up for future volumes. There is little action until the end of the volume and while there is some nice humour here and there, it isn't the main focus of the volume. On the plus side this volume does have some nice emotional moments with Hughes' family and the plot developments are certainly interesting.

plot is coming together
love the way the plot is coming together, there's a lot of scheming happening between all the characters which is awesome. I also love that there are new characters who bring something new to the table! It's all super interesting

Exciting twists in volume 9
Edward, Alphonse, and Winry return to Central, where the Elric brothers intend to do more research on the Philosopher's Stone and its whereabouts. Meanwhile, Second Lieutenant Maria Ross is charged with murder. When the brothers learn of the murder and Maria Ross' arrest, they hurry to confirm that the information is true. They encounter Number 66 (AKA Barry the Chopper), who has broken Maria Ross out of prison, and they are discovered by Mustang. He attacks them in an attempt to apprehend Maria, per his orders. To avoid any rumors about them, the homunculi Lust, Gluttony, and Envy go to attack Mustang and his soldiers. This one is incredibly fast paced, and you will be turning the pages very quickly to discover what happens next. You won't believe what happens in this one!
