I believe this is made in USA, not sure. Regardless it is great decanter, just beautiful, you will love it.

Does the decanter have a stopper or is there a way to close it up tight?

Yes and no. The stopper has a central screen through which the wine can be poured to filter sediment. Peripherally there is an opening in the front portion through which one purs out the wine. It is the steel stopper that makes this dripless. Probably not a good choice to save wine for days, but perfect to allow the wine to breathe for the desired number of hours. There are some cheaper decanters available but they all drip.

Is this only for red wine? Is white wine fine too?
