Good overall but not as insulative as a Sipp
I want to give 3.5 stars, but I like the product enough to round up. I picked this up on recommendation from America's Test Kitchen which rated this above the Thermos Sipp, which I already own, so I'm really comparing the two products here. Skip to the bottom for the summary.Insulation: Hands down, the winner is the Sipp. It's not even a contest. I'm not sure how ATK rated them so close in this category, but the Sipp is FAR superior in its ability to keep hot beverages hot (gifted one to my father and he complained that it was too good at insulating his coffee). This Icon tumbler will keep my green tea hot for a few hours, but coffee, which has had cold cream added, only keeps hot for about an hour, and I drink far more coffee than tea.Cleanability: Another clear win, but this time for the Icon. Perhaps the reason the Sipp is so effective at insulating beverages is due to its complicated lid, but I find cleaning it well, without a dishwasher, to be very difficult. The Sipp usually has a slight odor of sour milk around the push button on top which is exactly where my nose hits when drinking, whereas the Icon is easily clean by hand without any little pockets that cannot be reached. Since I don't have a dishwasher (yes, I might live in the dark ages) it might be that the Sipp cleans more easily than I have experienced, but even then there are a few small pieces of rubber and plastic that could easily get lost without some sort of mesh bag or box to put them in.Durability: Slight edge to the Icon. The bases of both mugs are very durable and well constructed (my Sipp has been dropped a number of times, and had to have the base gently hammered back into shape without any change to its effectiveness), so the real difference is in the lid designs. I have had to replace the lid on my Sipp because the threads cracked after about a 1 1/2 years of almost daily use. The Icon has heavier duty plastic, fewer threads, and fewer "moving" parts that might break.Functionality: Very slight edge to the Icon. The Sipp push button lid is very liquid-tight, as is the Icon's flip-up lid. I've tested both rather vigorously (shaking, tossing onto my bed, flinging end-over-end up in the air, etc.) and neither has ever leaked. The Sipp has a clear line beyond which you shouldn't fill, and if you do you risk getting some liquid into the threads; this can cause some leakage. The tea bag hook is nice, I suppose, but I don't use it as I think tea tends to get bitter when overbrewed. The Icon lid is simple and straightforward, with rubberized nibs that fill the drinking and vent holes when closed. I have some concern about wearing down the plastic nibs that hold the lid in place when flipped open, but that really shouldn't affect usability: the lid has a lip that, when flipped open, can easily be held with the index finger while drinking (which is what I usually do rather than click the lid into it's locked open position).Summary: Overall edge to the Icon, but if you have a dishwasher (and the patience to deal with the multiple small parts of the Sipp lid) and really like your beverages to stay hot/cold for hours at a time, the Sipp might be the better choice.

Keeps drinks contained
This travel mug keeps drinks hot/cold. The lid screws on so it does not pop up or leak like press on types have done for me. It is also tapered so it fits in your hand nicely

Good travel mug
First, I am disappointed in how long it took to get the Timolino. It came from myTableware. When I bought it they did say it would ship within two weeks. It did and I received it 16 days after ordering it, but I'm use to much more rapid service through Amazon. It's like the company had to order it from China first. When it arrived I gave it a very rigorous shake test. I was able to get a few drops out of the mug, but I don't expect the mug to go through anything like the shaking I gave it. So it passed the shake test with flying colors. I then tested to see how long it would keep coffee warm and compared it to my current thick plastic coffee travel mug. Again the Timolino passed with flying colors keeping the coffee comfortably hot (153 degrees) for two hours. My other travel mug was at room temperature in two hours. The heat test also include taking the temperature on the outside of the mug. At all times the outside of the mug was comfortable to hold.Washing the mug was easy and when necessary the sealing gasket can be easily removed to clean more effectively. Personally, I don't see the need to clean under the seal daily; maybe once a week or so.The last test was based on one reviewer's comment that liquid remaining in the sipping area would dribble out the far side of the cup under the stopper. Yes, it did do this but really I couldn't get it to do this with any natural movements. I had to pour liquid into the sipping area and then tilt the cup backwards before any liquid rolled down the side. If the cup was very full and it was being shaken vigorously I suppose this could happen. For me, this is not an issue. (It could be remedied by a small design change to provide a lip on the far side and a incline back to the opening)Overall, this was a good purchase for me. I'll be tossing out the old plastic travel mug.
