Can i go on with the movies if it suddenly shut off?

Yes, of course. Our car DVD player has breakpoint memory function, it will always start from wherever it left last time.

Will i need an adapter if my new tv doesn't have the video plugs (red, white and yellow) or will i be able to just connect with the hdmi cables?

You only need to connect to either an hdmi input OR composite video/ audio inputs. You don’t need to connect both. The RCA cable included, is only needed for televisions that don’t have hdmi.
