REC 3: Genesis

This movie has a little bit of everything. There's horror, comedy, romance, found footage, and suspense. And it's blended together nicely so you don't get overwhelmed by this or that. My only complaint, and this is more of a personal pet peeve, is the continuity. It honestly isn't that hard to pick up where you left off. There's literally numerous ways to keep track of the scene and taking pictures is just one way to do. It's lazy but fairly common in movies these days.

So, the first 20 mins of the film are in found footage style and up to that point, I felt like the film was measuring up fairly well, in comparison to REC 1 and 2. Then it switches into live action which for die hard fans, could be a disappointment. The mood of the film changes but is not horrible by any means. The acting is still solid and the gore factor, although not as plentiful as the first two is still there with some cool scenes. Their are some "lulls" in the film where their is a lot of dialogue going on but not too much action, which could be somewhat boring. The bad reviews are those that had too high of expectations; this is not a bad film. For a third installment of a well done franchise I would say the film is good, but for die hard fans wont be impressed.

To me, the movie was ok. Not one I would watch over again, but one I would probably recommend to those who like zombie like movies.The negatives for me were(1) Why the need for the demons? Simply starts as one gets bit and the infection spreads.(2) There is only one that appears to be bit at first, which takes a while to infect. However, then, all of sudden, you have multiple zombies / demons jumping in and taking lives? Where did these come from? Seemed a distraction from the movie. But, without this, most of the wedding party would have been able to escape.(3) Demons just stand there to listen to a prayer?I had lots of other questions, but the best way to watch this movie is to simply watch it and not think so much!

so i really enjoyed this movie. ALOT. i loved the first two...i truly do believe they are groundbreaking, especially the first one.my god, what a franchise.this movie takes the first two, and in the first twenty minutes turns the whole thing on its head...a risky move, indeed.i loved every minute of it. the leading actress was/is absolutely stunning, the lead actor is just fine, and the special effects scared the jesus out of me. truly jumped alot during this movie.i completely recommend this movie but be warned...its a hardcore ride and doesnt hold back.if you liked the previous entries...you must see this.

The weakest of the first 3 REC movies by far. Not good when you hope the demon possessed zombies eat all the characters just for the movie to finally be over.

I seriously couldn't or didnt't know how to rate this video at first,becasue the first 20 mins sucked. After the first 20 mins this movie made a big turn around it truly came life. Rec1 and Rec2 were turly awesome I really have to admit that I'm not a big fan of the camera. It remind me to much of blairwitch project and I hated it,but over all I enjoyed this movie despite of the moving camera witch was not able to focus in the movie like it was suppose to. I would recomment this movie to watch in the end it was well worth the watch. I gave this movie 3 starts,because of the first 20mins of this movie.

This film is different than the first two. If you go into it expecting the same type of film you will be disappointed. First off they don't use the hand held cameras. I don't have any issue with them dumping the found footage format, but I have heard complaints from others. The biggest difference is that this film is campy. They decided to go for a zombie comedy this time instead of straight horror. Although there are horror elements to it. I liked it a lot and was able to divorce the experience from the first films.

After watching the first two movies in the [REC] series, I went into this one with high hopes of seeing the same claustrophobic, suspenseful horror that drove the previous films. [REC] 3 turned out to be more of a tongue-in-cheek comedy/horror film that didn't take itself seriously at all and drops the first-person perspective of the other two films. Also, this movie spends WAY too much time setting up the idea of the wedding taking what felt like at least 20 mins of banal dialogue to advance the plot. Being a fan of campy horror and the film having some decent horror scenes, I was able to take it's rating to 3 stars despite being let down by it not being what I was looking for when I rented it. It looks like co-director Jaume Balaguero will be onboard again for the fourth installment so here's hoping [REC] 4 will take the series back to it's roots.

The third installment is far from being on par with its predecessors. Though not a bad movie on its own, if you're looking for something similar to [REC] and [REC] 2, you should look elsewhere. Outside of this, it is a decent movie.
