This saved my back
I had a major back shoulder sprain and there was no pain killer that could help. I went to the doctor who sent me to physical therapy. They used a combination of ultrasound, infrared and electro-something or other treatments on me. The infrared felt the best to me and its something I could buy so I got this. Its large enough to cover a good portion of my back and it feels great up to a point. There are only 2 settings, low and high. Low might be too low for me and when I juice it up to high, after a while I feel like my back is almost like well done steak. Don't stay on high for too long it can't be good for you. My sprain never really healed but its not painful just an annoying dull ache maybe a .5 on the pain scale. Whenever it gets to a 2-3 I use this pad and it loosens it up and I'm good for another few months. If you get this understand than this is a stiff pad and will not wrap around body parts. Its meant for your back either while you're sitting or lying down.

Hard!!!
You have to use the hard part against your body. It is rigid and can be painful especially for the lower back.

Fix your herniated disc
I had a herniated disc in my lower back and I was able to get better within a week after using the Thermotex Infrared Heating pad for one to two hours a day. I was able to go to the gym and do so back exercises to make my back muscles stronger. I felt pain the next day after exercising so I used the Thermotex Infrared Heating pad again and felt fine again. You have to rest either laying flat on your bed or sitting laying your back in an office chair back rest as much as possible. The idea is to get your torso weight off your herniated disc so it gets rest so it can heal. Thermotex Infrared Heating pad works better if you use it between your office chair and your back. Use the hard side of the pad towards your body. The soft side does not heat up. You have to sit up straight on your chair while using the Thermotex Infrared Heating pad. After using it you can lay on the back rest of the chair to get the weight off your bad disc. You will not get any better if you don't rest your back. The Thermotex Infrared Heating pad just helps accelerate your recovery so you must also do your part. You can also place your hand between the pad and your back to fix any pain you might have in your hands from using the mouse or keyboard. Infrared heat reaches 3 inches into your body so it is very effective by reaching all the way into your vertebrates and discs.

Stiff heating pad
This is an awesome heating pad. There is not a lot of flex to it so it works better laying flat on the floor or behind you on a chair. Takes a little while to heat up as well, but that was expected.

Hard to lay on
This is not soft at all. Its stiff and hard like wooden board. Heat is good but i just wish it was comfortable to lay on. Not sure why they had to make it so stiff and hard. Returning it.

Gentle heat works
I bought this to relieve back spasms/hypertonicity. Used it 1-2x/day for a week and the pain was reduced after each use. It’s not very hot, doesn’t have a lot of adjustability of temp, a bit hard to lay on (I used a thin towel between me and device), but it seems to work well. I bought it because it is Canadian-made and seems well-made so hoping it lasts for a long time.

I've loved this brand since I started using it over 10 years ago. When I needed to get one for my grandma, there was zero questions asked except one... WHERE am I getting my next thermotex pad? There wasn't even a wonder if we were going to shop elsewhere; it was an absolute no brainer that we were getting a thermatex for managing pain and circulation. My favorite use of these pads is having them on my feet and ice on my neck when I catch a migraine early; helps me manipulate blood flow into my feet and away from my throbbing skull. Everyone needs a thermatex. Period.

Bought this for a hip problem or any future issues. Researched the infrared feature and apparently it is better for healing so I was willing to pay extra for something more effective. It works well and so far it has been helping. Although one side is padded, this is not the heat side. The heated side is mounted against a hard board, presumably to facilitate more efficient heat transfer to affected areas. For someone with hip problems, sitting on a hard piece of wood is not ideal. I can tell that leaning against it for back problems or maybe lying on your side with the heating pad between you and a sofa would also work but unlike conventional heating pads which are flexible and can be wrapped around an area, this is not flexible.

Didn’t have it for a few 2-3 month before I started smelling burnt plastic. Took off the cover and there was a tiny hole, completely nonfunctional and unsafe. Only used it well laying on my bed. Not worth the price made me feel like an idiot buying gadgets to help deal with my pain. Thanks bob and Brad.
