Prayerbook Hebrew the Easy Way

Good for classroom work, not so much for independent learners
This book assumes that you already know the Hebrew alphabet (alefbet) along with the vowel system. This, by itself, deserves at least a chapter, but you won't find it here. If you don't know the letters, you will have trouble sounding the words out on your own. You will also not find explanations of the many "exceptions to the rule" that a language this ancient will have. For all of these reasons, I recommend taking a class with this book. If you are trying to teach yourself a 3500 year old language on your own, this book will help but it will not be able to answer questions like a Hebrew teacher can. If you cannot find a class using this book (and I'm in an online one, there are plenty around), I suggest you buy the companion audiobook, so that you will at least hear the words pronounced aloud. As a learning resource in a class setting, however, this book is hard to beat. My only complaint is that the spine, after several years of use, is cracking. I don't want to replace my book because of all my margin notes. I really wish there was a Kindle version of this book, so that it wouldn't fall apart after many years.

Great for those who can read Hebrew
This book is great for those who can read siddur (prayer book) Hebrew but don't know what the words mean. It contains lots of practice with translating and vocabulary word building in each chapter. It also explains the grammar which is very helpful.

Perfect for those who can read the Hebrew alef bet and want to learn more
I have already studied some Hebrew grammar. I've found that this book is perfect for reviewing the basics of grammar and vocabulary. This is also the best book for learning prayer book Hebrew. I would also recommend going through this book before moving on to a harder grammar book such as a book on Biblical Hebrew.

should include transliteration at least in vocab list
I like it so far and think I will learn a lot. However for the new vocabulary words I can sound out the letters, but that is not always how a word sounds. Transliteration, at least in the vocabulary list would be helpful. I will have to go online and find a site that gives a Hebrew word and how it is pronounced. I think they didn't have independent learners in mind.

Very Good for Beginner Hebrew
Using this to supplement my Hebrew class, and it's a great help. Be sure to know your letters and vowels (or have a good cheat sheet like I do), and you'll be reading and writing simple sentences very quickly. It also helps if you are already using a siddur (Jewish prayer book) because you'll be reading most all of these words every service. There is an audio portion available through Audible which I also recommend; it's better when you hear it yourself. This book has the answers to the exercises in the back so you can check your work. I'm very pleased.

For adult study this book tackles the material at the right pace in a clear and concise fashion. Each chapter has plenty of practice for reinforcement and ends with examples of prayers which most religious Jews will be familiar with and Christians will find interesting and sometimes be familiar with. Being reminded of what you're studying to be able to do is a very encouraging way to end each chapter. It doesn't fully explain verbs however, so you won't be done when you finish the book. I use it as the Hebrew I curriculum.

On target!
If you want to get familiar with Prayerbook Hebrew this is a great text. I used it in a class which was helpful, because there is a bunch to learn in each chapter. But it really helped me get more understanding out of the common prayers where I knew the Hebrew but not the meaning.

Prayerbook Hebrew the Easy Way This is an excellent book. If you are a beginner with Hebrew like I was, I would suggest getting the book, "Teach Yourself to Read Hebrew," by Simon and Anderson. This will prepare you for the Prayerbook Hebrew. I am so glad for the Prayerbook Hebrew The Easy Way. The lessons are great and easy to follow. Of course, like any language, you need to practice everyday and if you can find daily services to attend either at a physical temple or online, being able to hear the prayers many times, will help you also.

Excellent Hebrew Book
I cannot speak too highly of this book. As well as being a superb introduction to important aspects of Jewish life, notably the prayers used week by week and day by day at home and in the synagogue, it is an excellent primer for those learning Hebrew. You do need to have already mastered the alphabet however, but having done so this is a superb book. I obtained my copy from the United States and why every dealing with the sellers was a treat. Shalom.
