Typical plastic soldiers with nice history lesson
I bought this toy for my 6 year old son who loves the Revolutionary War period. We had just visited Yorktown on the anniversary of the surrender and watched a big parade, so he was excited about having the soldiers from this battle. The quality is average for these types of plastic soldiers, but the inclusion of not only British and American soldiers, but also French and Hession, provides a good history lesson. He particularly likes all the fortifications and canons that are part of the set, as well as the figures of Washington (plus horse), Cornwallis and Lafayette. He also enjoys the different poses of the soldiers. There is a brief history on the front of the box that (from what I know of it) appears to be fairly accurate. There are some screaming typos on the box - my favorite being "Frenench" on the front in bold type - so there may be some historical errors as well. All that said the most important thing is that my son loves this toy.

Not The BMC Figures I was Looking For
This playset is great for a quick table game or to teach new historians about moving troops in lines of battle. You get a good mix of soldiers, cannon, and redoubts to dress up the display a little. My only issue with these sets is the figures are Americana Toys not the old clean hard plastic BMC figures. You can still find old bagged BMC figures that feature the poses from this set but I have yet to find a true BMC playset at a reasonable price. For painting - the Americana figures need to be washed in detergent a few times and often the cheap quality of the plastic will still bleed through the painting long after they dry. I have had success priming in black flat spray paint. The Americana sets also on just about every occasion arrive broken so expect to be doing repairs before setting up for play. Overall its a nice cheap way of adding numbers to your existing Revolutionary War units and filling the table. I would give these figures a 3 out of 5 as they paint up nice, but for those who do not paint the figures I would rate them higher.

They were very useful.
My granddaughter used some of the items to complete a school project on the Revolutionary War. They were very useful.

Product as expected, but okay enough
Based on other reviews I was expecting a product with flaws. 3 of the 4 cannons were broken on arrival, and one man was headless. I expect that glue will solve this problem. My son is still happy with the set though he wished it would was a bit more durable. My son also wanted to mention that there were 2 general Cornwallis'.

not for kid with no imagination, mediocre quality
This toy is good for the kid who knows something about history, enough to recreate his or her own battles. The quality is only so so, and one of the three cannons was broken upon receipt. It is a hassle to return or exchange goods through mail. The pieces are one-colored, i.e., not super detailed (but that was expected due to the price being pretty low for the set).

Pleased grandmother
I ordered this battle set for my 7 year old grandson's birthday. We had just visited Williamsburg and Yorktown and he is enjoying reenacting the battle of Yorktown.
