Q: Does this have a strong smell?

No. I don't smell anything ever.

Q: how are you supposed to actually use even half the glue in the container that is too hard to squeeze?

I never had a problem.if you can't get out of the tip,cut the tip off again

They are now producing many different products, so I am sure you will be able to find just want you need. This glue is amazing ! ! !

I'd say medium - just like Crazy Glue. I use when I break a nail because I only need one drop and the top keeps the rest of the glue in usable condition. Good choice.
