Excellent picture quality, brochure and poster good. Card model pretty poor. First delivery damaged box replacement ok.

This is the first Bond film of the EON franchise, it dates from 1962 and it's still one of my favourites in the series. Sean Connery is Bond, James Bond, he is cool, he is sexy, he is cynical, he is absolutely wonderful, and for many he is still the Bond all other Bonds have to measure up to. Ursula Andress is unforgettable as the first ever Bond girl as she emerges from the waves in that iconic white bikini. The film came out in the early 1960s and as such it became a role model for all future James Bond films. The film sticks to the plot as written by Ian Fleming, but the clothes James Bond wears, and suave style were thought out by the director, Terence Young. He basically modelled James Bond on himself. That aside the film may be too slow for some people, but for others Sean Connery is the consummate James Bond. Here James Bond seduces women, drinks, gambles and kills the enemy. The first scene where Sean Connery appears as James Bond is in a casino and he introduces himself with those immortal words, Bond, James Bond. Also there is the unforgettable scene where Honey Rider played by Usula Andress, emerges from the sea. The dvd also features commentary about the director, cast and crew. A blockbuster and one for avid fans of James Bond.

Not having seen Dr No since 1962 on its first appearance, I’d forgotten how little there was in the way of spectacular effects. A couple of car chases, an explosion, oh, and a tarantula. Instead you have a smooth, understandable plot with some excellent dialogue, Ursula Andress who famously emerges from the sea in the most unexpected circumstances and Sean Connery of course, smoothly anticipating what the baddies are going to do. There is an entertaining scene in which he has trapped the villainess but decides to dally with her before turning her in.. It’s here that we learn that 007 puts his pyjamas back on after making love. Joseph Wiseman makes as effective a 007 nasty guy as I remember. However, there’s one drawback, typical of that time in film land.We’re in Jamaica but there is only one black actor of any importance. I immediately marked him down as dispensable and regrettably I was right.

My buddy loved it ... absolutely loved it ... this is a GREAT gift for the 007 fan, as long as they have a European DVD player ... buy it, while you can ...

I was delighted with this special edition blu ray of Dr no.the sound and picture quality was excellent.

I am a committed daniel craig fan,real breath of fresh air for the franchise.but have watched a few of re-mastered CONNERY bonds & he just smouldersitz all about the times, Cars ,british intel,the prime ministerREALLY did lap it all up.Give it a go

„James Bond – 007 jagt Dr. No“ ist der erste Film der legendären Reihe über den Agenten mit der „Lizenz zum Töten“.Eigentlich sollte „Feuerball“ der erste Bond-Film werden, doch aufgrund rechtlicher Streitereien, entschied man sich dann dafür den Roman „Dr. No“. zu verfilmen. Dieser Bond-Film wies schon eine Vielzahl von Merkmalen auf, die sich durch alle anderen Filme ziehen würden. So ist immer eine sehr attraktive und sehr erotische Frau Teil der Handlung, technische Spielereien und ein Bösewicht gehören ebenso dazu, wie MONTY NORMAN komponierte Erkennungsmelodie.Die Suche nach der idealen Besetzung für den „Super-Agenten“ gestaltete sich als äußerst schwierig, es gab sogar einen Zeitungswettbewerb, bei dem mehr als 1000 Männer teilnahmen. Die sechs Bewerber die für Probeaufnahmen ausgewählt wurden, schafften es aber nicht bis zum Set.REX HARRISON, TREVOR HOWARD, MAX VON SYDOW und der dritte „Bond“, ROGER MOORE, waren heiße Kandidaten für die Rolle. CARY GRANT war der Favorit von Produzent BROCCOLI, IAN FLEMING machte sich für DAVID NIVEN oder seinen Cousin CHRISTOPHER LEE stark.Die Produzenten BROCCOLI und SALTZMAN wurden dann aber auf SEAN CONNERY aufmerksam und drückten ihn trotz Bedenken von „United Artists“ durch. CONNERY unterschrieb einen Vertrag für mehrere Filme - der Rest ist Geschichte!Die Figur des „Q“ wurde im ersten Film noch von PETER BURTON gespielt, ab „Liebesgrüße aus Moskau“ übernahm DESMOND LLEWELYN diese Rolle, die er bis zu seinem Tod 1999 innehatte.BERNARD LEE, als Geheimdienstchef „M“, und LOIS MAXWELL, als Sekretärin „Miss Moneypenny“, waren schon im ersten Film dabei und spielten ihre Rollen über Jahrzehnte.Die Dreharbeiten fanden in London und auf Jamaika statt, die verschiedenen Kulissen wurden in den „Pinewood- Studios“ aufgebaut. Beachtlich ist, dass die Macher nur ein Budget von 1,1 (!) Millionen $ zur Verfügung hatten, und trotzdem solche beachtlichen Kulissen, wie das Labor des „Dr. No“, zustande brachten.Für SEAN CONNERY und URSULA ANDRESS (Honey Ryder) war der Film der internationale Durchbruch. Unvergesslich bleibt immer die Szene, als URSULA ANDRESS im Bikini aus dem Wasser kommt …Zum Inhalt muss man wohl nicht allzu viel schreiben, es dürfte wohl kaum jemanden geben, der diesen Kult-Klassiker nicht kennt.Im Groben geht es um den mysteriösen Tod des MI6-Chef auf Jamaika, bei dem Akten mit der Aufschrift „Dr. No“ verschwinden.Der britische Agent „James Bond“ wird auf den fall angesetzt und reist nach Jamaika, um den rätselhaften Mord aufzuklären und die Quelle von mysteriösen Energiewellen lokalisieren, welche die Flugbahnen amerikanischer Raketen aus Cape Canaveral stören ….Mein Fazit: Dieser Film war der Auftakt einer legendären Filmreihe, deren Ausmaß sich die Macher wohl nie erträumt haben. Der Film ist sehr spannend, die Darsteller sehr überzeugend, ich finde den Film klasse. Man darf ihn um Gotteswillen nicht an heutigen Maßstäben messen, man sollte ein Faible für Klassiker haben, denn ohne das funktioniert der Film nicht.Ich finde ihn klasse, er ist definitiv Kult, insofern eine klare Empfehlung für Fans des Agenten mit der „Lizenz zum Töten“!
