Requires too much pressure on my wrists!
Unfortunately, the stretches in this DVD rely on positioning my body in a way that requires putting pressure on my wrists and/or hands, which are very tender. Also, the editing is embarrassing. Instead of leaving the outtakes on the cutting room floor where they belong, you get to see him mess up his instructions and repeatedly claps his hands every time. This DVD will probably help MOST people, just not me. I'm going to see about returning it for a full refund.

STRETCHING So easy and very rewarding!
Everyday activities can become difficult to perform, but stretching exercises are an important part of our physical activity program. With this DVD, Dr. Lang is showing you step by step how to stretch the right way. So easy and very rewarding! Sleep better, and also helps reduce that unpleasant feeling of Restless Legs at night. Another added benefit is my waist line & hip area are smaller, and of course I am more flexible & able to move more quickly and easily. Lillie

I found it long winded and very boring. The stretch lasts 30 seconds but the man talked for 5 minutes. So I waited and waited for the next stretching exercise.

A very gentle and comprehensive stretching program for all-over flexibility
If you are looking to become more flexible, but yoga seems to intense, this dvd offers a thorough program for stretching all over that is gentle and safe. The dvd itself is pretty basic, but it doesn't need to be complex. Play the program all the way through and you get, (1) first, a very helpful introduction to a wide range of stretches, and (2) an overall stretching routine that focuses first on the lower body and then on the shoulders and neck. The first part lasts about an hour, and the second part lasts about forty minutes. What is very nice about the program is that the guide, Dr. Lang, offers a very clear approach without any judgment. He shows you how to do the basic stretches, but he also acknowledges the many difficulties that some might have with each stretch, and offers easier and safer alternatives for those who need them. It isn't like watching a yoga program where someone tells you to get into an impossible pose and a fit model does it effortlessly. It's really like standing there with a knowledgable guide, who leads you through the routine slowly. One thing I like about the routine is that he starts at the bottom, with the calves, and then moves up the body, one muscle or muscle group at a time, so that it is fairly easy to remember the routine after you've seen it a few times. I just think my way up my muscles. (I do wish, though, that the dvd included some kind of handy cue card, just as a reminder of all the stretches in case you forget one or two.)The presentation of the main routine lasts about 40 minutes, but there is some time in there for explanations and illustrations of variations, so really you could probably do the whole thing in about half an hour once you have followed along a few times and gotten used to it. Also, as he points out, the first half of the main routine which focuses on the lower body and is ideal for relief of restless leg syndrome might be all you really need to do if you are pressed for time and unless you need special attention to the shoulders and neck.In the dvd case, it does mention that there is an online version of some of the routines, but I didn't see them when I looked for them. I believe that they are forthcoming. I think it would be very nice to have a few different routines that focus on different needs, and at least one that covers the main bases in about 10 minutes. While I appreciate the overall routine, and know that he gives details on a lot of different stretches, so I could pick out just a few, I would have liked to have a quicker routine because I rarely have 30 minutes to devote to stretching. I usually take about 5 minutes to warm up before exercising and another 5-10 minutes afterwards doing stretches, but I don't usually have much more time to give. I recognize, though, that this is primarily directed at people with limited flexibility who may really benefit from a thorough and comprehensive routine like this one. I know that they would benefit from the thoughtfulness of the presentation. Even though I will pick and choose from this program what I can incorporate into my own routine, I did learn some good things about the general "philosophy" one ought to adopt when it comes to stretching for flexibility and overall health. I have enjoyed this program, and recommend it, especially to those who think they just aren't flexible simply because they can't get into yoga or because they have tried stretching and become sore. (I had a chance to preview this product, with the understanding that I would provide an honest review after testing it out.)
