It heats up really fast and has 3 different heat levels suitable for different types of hair. It is very easy to use and can be slipped in a bag easily due to its small size. I have tried using it for straightening and curling to increase the volume. The tymo porta works well for both. Would definitely recommend for anyone who loves to travel but don't want to bring a full size curling iron or straightener!

Let me start with the packaging. The box (with a magnetic close), is an excellent presentation. Everything inside is well laid out and leaves an impression of quality. There are some smart details, like the transparent strip around the handle that gives the instructions in the event you discard the paper instructions inside. The clips are a nice touch. It feels well-made and is a great size for traveling. I have very curly thick hair. I had to section it a bit to get the teeth to glide through. My hair type is 3C/4A and it says right in the advertisement (which I didn't notice until I bought it) that I should have purchased the Corded model. However, one of the attractions for me was the ability to use this without the cord, so I'm not complaining. it powered on extremely fast, maybe 30 seconds and was hotter than I expected so I lowered the temperature from the 2nd light to the first. I started with my hair curly and it took out the curl with only 3 or 4 passes. It was a little tricker to use it as a curling wand, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. While the back of the brush doesn't get too hot, the tines do, so I'd suggest a heat glove which worked perfectly for adding curl. When curling, my hair did not get stuck in the tines when I wrapped it around the barrel - a huge plus. If I wanted to get my hair the way I like it while traveling, I would have to take my large, round blower brush AND a curling iron, so consequently I don't take either or have to pick between one or the other. This is small, compact and once charged, the added convenience to be able to use it without a cord, will be really helpful, especially on cruises. It hopefully will take the place of the two I usually use. The 4 stars is only because I haven't traveled with it yet, I'm unsure about how long the charge lasts when using it without the cord and I don't know if it will work for years or only a few months. That said, this appears to be an exciting addition to my travel accessories. Update after several uses: I'm leaving the 4 star rating, because everything I said above is true, except: I fully charged the straightener and then attempted to use it without the cord. The heat only lasted through one usage before I needed to charge it again. With my hair, I need to do all of it from start to finish not just a quick touch up, so you might get more usage than I did. That in itself, is not a deal breaker as you could charge it overnight and then use it without the cord at least once during the day. I also wanted it to curl and I found that it was difficult to produce an actual curl. Wispy waves no problem, actual curl, not so much. Wrapping hair around the brush is not that easy and you really need a heat glove to do that. The most annoying part, though, is that it's really easy to turn off the heat while you're using it. It's great that it's compact, but there's not enough room to wrap your hand around the base without turning it off constantly. I'm leaving the 4 stars because, it did smooth my hair out beautifully with just a few passes and it is small and compact. Unfortunately, though it ultimately didn't work for me and I had to return it.

Run to buy this thing. I'm shocked at how well it works. I've used a flat iron for ages and this is so much better. I have thick, naturally wavy hair that I straighten after letting it air dry or sleeping on it. This tool straightens perfectly on one pass, whereas my flatiron takes a lot more work and effort. I think this must be more effective because of the comb shape and "bristles" that run through your hair rather than just over. That also seems to make it easier and faster to style. I also didn't have to pin up sections of my hair like I do with the flatiron. That said, the product includes two nice hair clips in case you do need them. The size of the tool is perfect and it comes with a nice zipper case. It was slightly heavier than "lightweight" but nothing that would make me take away a star. I actually hate "doing my hair", so I feel like this tool is a game changer for me.

Stopped working 2 weeks after I bought it.

I did not find that this product worked well. I used it once and then it seemed to stop working. I consider trying to troubleshoot and see if I was doing something wrong, but given the price I decided it wasn't worth it so I returned it.

The tool works well for styling my hair, but I can only seem to use it while plugged in because it doesn't hold a charge. It's a brand new item, but I took too long to open and try it, and it's past the return date already. Very unfortunate as I was looking for something to keep in my gym bag or car and use not plugged in.

This one is legit and works very well. Also dual voltage so can be used outside the US (with the necessary plug adapter for the country).

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I needed something compact to help straighten my hair while traveling and it fits perfectly in the bottom of my bag in between the ridges from long handle (really efficient use of that awkward space). However, I only have medium length hair and use it for 5-6 minutes per session and I can usually only get two, maybe three uses before I have to charge it back up. I unfortunately left the original charger at a hotel and using another USB-C charger seems to be hit/miss. Overall, it's functional enough for a travel device but isn't as good as using my blow comb at home.

This does what it says. Easy to use and straightens my hair really well. The only downside is that is is a little heavy, so not so great for travelling.
