Did not have to pair this to either of our televisions. Does not turn the volume down, so have been relegated to the upstairs TV where the volume rarely changes and the Sky changer from there is used for the main TV. This was a a cheaper option for a replacement, if another is needed I will pay for the true Sky option,

This replacement Sky Q remote, priced at £17.99, has been working well so far. I purchased it as a spare in case anything happens to the original. While this version doesn’t have voice control, I don’t mind since I rarely used that feature. Voice commands often failed to interpret me correctly, so I find it quicker to search manually.Setup ExperienceSetting up the remote was straightforward:1. Install 2x AAA batteries – The remote immediately controlled the Sky Q box for tasks like changing channels.2. Volume pairing – Initially, the volume button didn’t work because it is controlled by the TV rather than the Sky Q box. A quick pairing process fixed this.If you’re familiar with pairing, it’s usually quite simple. When pairing sky remotes, pressing 7 + 9, followed by 1 + 3, which opens the pairing menu, but in my case, this didn’t work. I’m not sure if it is the remote in this case or my tv, but not to worry there is another option. I had to pair manually through the menus:• Press the House icon on the remote.• Navigate to Setup > Remote Control > Sky Q Remote > Control Your TV.• Enter your TV brand, if you know the code select ‘I know it’ and input. If you don’t, press ‘I don’t know’ then let it search for the code for you.• For each code, press 1 + 3 for two seconds, enter the number displayed on-screen, and test the volume button. If it doesn’t work, select “No” to try another code. I found the correct code on the second attempt.There’s a TV code sticker inside the battery compartment to record this for future reference. Personally, I prefer writing my Sky PIN there instead, as TV codes may become outdated if you replace your TV.PerformanceThis remote is a decent replacement, though it doesn’t feel as robust as the original. Once paired, it works reliably and is a great basic option if you don’t need voice control.Overall Rating: A practical, no-fuss remote that’s easy to set up and performs well for the price.
