I've been wanting to try a cervical pillow for some time as I'm constantly waking up with neck/shoulder pain. I'm a side sleeper, but my biggest issue is that over the course of the night I slowly start to curl into a ball with my chin curled in towards my chest, while my shoulders creep up towards my ears. This results in a lot of tension in my traps and down either side of my neck. I've been able to combat part of the issue by hugging a stuffy or pillow to keep my arms in the right placement, but I'm still finding I curve my neck down towards my chest.The flared up sides of the cervical pillow is exactly what I needed to keep my head in place. And I thought the pillow would be too stiff and take a while to adjust to, but I find the squishy memory foam material is so similar to my previous pillow (one with the memory foam pieces that you can add/remove to adjust the firmness) that I had no issues the first night using it. Now only time will tell if this helps relieve the tension in my neck.
