Everything about this unit is just excellent, but the 5-function part (hi,med,lo,strobe,SOS) is gimicky for people who just need light. I've never been in a position to need either strobe or SOS, and having to cycle through them is an annoyance. Wish I could disable them in favor of a more easily accessed (and repeated) intensity selection. Ah well - a nice flashlight nonetheless, and when packaged with the charger and two batteries, an unbeatable deal.

I think the people complaining about this light not being very bright are not using the proper batteries. You MUST use the 3.7V Lithium Ion batteries for this light, and you will be VERY pleased with the light. As with all Chinese lights, the lumens are exaggerated. But next to my Surefire 600 lumen, ($150.00), it is not that far off. I would say around a solid 400 lumens, which is terrific brightness for the money. So, this is an amazing light for a package with TWO Lithium Batteries- AND a charger- for about $17.00! with shipping. GREAT value. Well built, all aluminum, only 11 days delivery from China. This is one Chinese made and shipped product that I am very pleased with.

This flashlight is incredibly bright.*Warning* Do NOT look directly into it, or shine it into your friends or family's faces. I have been using it to work in a dark attic to install wiring and I can easily see end-to-end ~ 75'. The charger works great and it's perfect to have the extra battery. Everything appears to be of good quality and I expect this light to last for years.Update 10/30/2013. Well I thought it would last for years, however it only lasted 6 weeks. Build quality looks great on the outside, but the real story is in the interface between the LED and its heatsink. Upon failure I performed a root cause failure analysis and found that the LED had become detached from the heatsink. Further evaluation revealed solder voids and insufficient solder between the LED and its ceramic heatsink. The success of these high powered LEDs depends on getting the heat out of the junction. I hope mine is an anomaly and the rest of you have better results, however I would limit the continuous "on" time to reduce heating as much as possible.Tony

I loved the flashlight until it wouldnt come on after about 2 months, I unscrewed the caps and put them back on and it came on, then another month goes by and the charger went out so now it sits on my desk with uncharged batteries. Bottom line its ok for a month or so, its very bright for the price. Next time I will bite the bullet and buy a better one.

Hardened aluminum body, rubber gaskets on cap ends, lubricated at the threads, serrated front edge for assaulting your target, Cree stamp on the LED bulb housing and brightest flashlight I've ever purchased.I own a cree 200 lumens flashlight and I enjoyed it so much I decided to try a higher power light for tactical use. This one performs as advertised and comes with a spare battery so I'm always ready. Won't find a better flashlight, battery, and charger set for the same value.Buying four more as presents for my co-workers.

I would prefer a zoom in/out feature than the Medium, Low, Strobe, SOS modes.It produces a high pitch sound, after few minutes using it it becames warm. Also, The batteries that it comes with, last about an hour and when turned on The intensity of the light beam goes down very quick.

First off let me say this torch is fantastic for the price; the size, weight and power are incredible and as to what I purchased I could not be happier with the productButFirstly I was unaware this was coming in from China I certainly can not recall seeing anything in the advert to this factDelivery time was just short of ridiculous, ( just short of 5 weeks) NASA can send a spacecraft to the moon and back in 6 days.In fact it was so late I was about to file a non delivery notice on the itemAs to the torch, I use it for walking my dogs in the dark - it is a super white light, even on low mode the torch is very usable - there is no instructions so for a plonker like me it took a couple of minutes fiddling about to figure out how to change the modes. I am used to carrying a large cluelite as a torch but this is every bit as powerful in a mini package.I knocked one star off for the delivery and I dont want to be too harsh on the seller but please make it clear or clearer the items are being shipped from China and work on the logistics a bit.

I have an older C8 torch and wanted to see how this one compared.The wait was worth it (about 3 weeks from China) - I'm not sure about the batteries supplied as they are obviously Ultrafire lookalikes (appear to be called Uitrafire, yes that's a I in there) however they appear to work fine. I haven't tested them long term yet but they appear OK so far.The torch itself is blisteringly bright and focusses the spot in a very tight beam, so this torch has a tremendous throw - testing on a hedge about 70m away, it illuminates an area of about six metres diameter really brightly. This is quite a lot bigger area than my old C8 torches - comparing them side by side the old ones seem a bit dim in comparison!!The throw of the torch is at least 300m, which is good for a single XM-L T6 LED.All in all, very satisfied - the charger seems OK too, however it has a US or far east connector which is not ideal, but a universal multi-adaptor was included which was an unexpected surprise.

Great torch at a great price - haven't had it for long, but so far so good: it's small, very bright, the batteries last well and the charger works well. The on-off/mode change button is a little fiddly, but after years of dull battery-muncher torches, I'll put up with that for the rest of it! Delivery exactly as it said it would be - a little wait, but unless you need it for an emergency, worth waiting for...

While waiting for this torch to arrive, I bought another Cree model that runs on three AAA cells. That had the advantage of having a zoomable beam and my idea was to see whether it would be better than this 1000 lumen model when it arrived. Well, this one took nearly a month to arrive from the Far East but, when it did, I was bowled over by it. The brightness is fantastic - especially for such a small torch. I shall now be selling the xoomable one on ebay! I have found only one slight grumble with this torch and that is the fact that it cannot be operated with one hand because of the pssition of the switch right in the base of the torch. The li-ion batery lasts well and there's always the spare standing by. A few instructions would have been useful, but it was all quite logical, I suppose. A great buy.

I am impressed by the quality of the light beam from such a cheap and small torch. the torch only holds one battery which is a bonus as one can charge while the other is being used. I have been using this torch every day now for about a month for cycling to work and have never had any trouble with it. Just remember to keep the batteries charged up!
