Norpro Grip-EZ Stainless Steel Meat Pounder, Black/Silver

I don't use it a lot, but I have had it for quite a while and it is still perfect. I highly recommend it.

This is a quality built meat pounder. It is easy to use and the handle allows great control even when wet. Easy to clean also. I hand wash and put away. It is heavy for its size but that is good. I had the hammer style one and I would not have even thickness through out. Plus I would sometimes shred or tear the meat. With this one, it is so easy to get the job done and it instantly made me feel like a pro. I will buy again. For the money, great value and quality material.

I have dealt with various "pounders" since I started cooking as a teen. I began pounding abalone steaks. 65 years later, this pounder does the best job, the quickest way, and perfectly satisfying. Cooking foods flattened by this pounder guarantee a perfectly temp controlled result on a skillet or a BBQ. As for a tenderizer, it is not the tool of choice. But, considering cooking speed, flattening a whole chicken breast to exactly 1/2" will cook in 20-mins. on a BBQ evenly and no need for over-cooking! Thawing frozen chicken breasts and hamburger, flattened out the same thaw in 10-mins. in warm water. Great tool--great time saver on multiple levels!

Heavy duty, well made and feels good to use. A little pricey though.

While there are several strategies for pressing meats, and I have tried them all, this has worked the best for me. By far.

The weight is perfect, the handle fits nicely in your hand, and it's SO easy to use! The only drawback, as other reviewers have mentioned, is the open space around the rim on top of the weight. Meat juices could easily get in it during use, and water when you wash it. I wrap mine in plastic wrap or put a sandwich bag around it when I use it to keep juices out and keep it clean so I never have to wash it. Everything else about this pounder outweighs this one drawback.

This item has good weight, pounds evenly and is easy on my wrist. The hammer type pounder requires more wrist action and if I have a lot to do, it starts to bother me. This is a good product.
