Best strainer I have ever used with my wok. I love Joyce Chen products and this strainer has proven itself worthy to me. Easy to clean, sturdy, and well balanced. I can safely scoop 3-4 egg rolls at a time when frying without any issues. Great product.

Awesome 7" strainer for frying chicken. Nice long handle to keep us at bay from the hot oil. Good size scooper easily holds several pieces of chicken. Love the wood handle, all around a fabulous tool to have in your kitchen when deep frying, as well as many other tasks.

I have two sizes of this in my kitchen and use them daily. Bought this one for my son-in-law who likes to boil peanuts and fry fish in big batches, on a propane burner, outdoors. This makes the difference in the entire batch being done to perfection, or some being overdone when you don’t have the proper tool to get everything out of the hot oil quickly.

At 69 years (46 of them with me), heaving a full and boiling pasta pot to the sink to empty into a colander was becoming difficult, if not dangerous for my wife. Much as I love her cooking, I hated the fear I experienced watching her. Suggesting that I might help did NOT go down too well, either. Saw this on a cooking show one day and searched and ordered it for a holiday gift. But when it arrived, it looked just too "durable" for a real "gift", so I turned it over to her on the spot. No more fears of scalds or spills. This thing is great. The mesh is good for just about any pasta, but it is certainly not a sieve. Remember though that starch makes a great glue, so do not let it go dry with any residue on it, unless you want to spend some time humming at the sink while you clean it. The bamboo is heavy and shows no sign of deterioration in about month of frequent use. Pretty it's not, but function is prime, and durability seems excellent.

Joyce Chen 7" Stainless Steel StrainerThis "spider" is just the right size for virtually any straining job. The metal is high quality, performs well and has not shown signs of rust. The handle is wooden which means that it doesn't conduct heat well, making it safe to handle. I thought that the wooden handle would come loose from the metal, but it is well attached.My only problem with this is cleaning: the wood doesn't fare well in the dish washer so I hand wash it. Also, food can get lodged between the metal and wood and can need special attention.However, all in all this item works great, certainly better than the all-metal spiders which tend to be made of inferior materials. I'm glad I got this one.

Item arrived today and O.M.G. this strainer is HUGE! Lol. I couldn't decide between the 5" or the 7" but the end result was the 7" and I didn't expect it to be so BIG! Lol. We had a good laugh over my choice of picking the 7" size strainer but all laughter and shock value aside, it's a very well made spider strainer. It will certainly scoop EVERYTHING out of the fryer at one time. hee hee. It will take some getting used to because of the size, it feels awkward in my hand but I'll get used to it. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

This strainer came loose banging around in a big box, no wrapping, plastic, no brand name cardboard tag on the ladle, no brand on it anywhere, just a sticker bar code.I’m not sure this is actually the Joyce Chen brand strainer as pictured. It’s also huge, much bigger than expected. This is not worth the price charged that’s for sure.I’m not mobile so unable to return.Disappointing.

large! Sturdy and seems good quality. Good if you are rough or have alot of food to serve quickly.

This is an excellent spider strainer, the same style used by Julia Child :) I've been enjoying it quite a lot.
