which is a good thing. My family has problems with skin sensitivity ...
I switched to washing my clothes in NaturOli Soap Nuts/Soap Berries almost a year ago and I never want to go back to regular detergents again. This is the cheapest and easiest way to help reduce the amount of chemical exposure to you and your family. My clothes are always clean. And though the berries themselves have a slightly vinegary smell to them that smell doesn't transfer to your clothes, your clothes end up not smelling at all, which is a good thing. My family has problems with skin sensitivity and we have had no issues at all, it's gotten rid of all of the skin issues we have had with regular detergents. Plus the pieces are such a bargain! And the bonus is that most of them aren't even pieces, it's just halves which is easy to add up to a while berry for washing. I add a total of 5 berries to the wash bag that is provided and simply throw it in the wash. You can tell they are used up when the berries seem to be soft and squishy and their color beings to dull, it's usually about 5 washes for me. I don't follow up with any fabric softeners I use wool dryer balls and have great results. I have boiled them to make a concentrated liquid to use for other cleaning purposes (stain treatment, carpet cleaner, general household cleaner) and I am very impressed with this as well. It isn't difficult to do and I am glad to have a cheap and easy alternative for natural cleaning around the house. For the price and versatility I definitely recommend this product.

I haven't used washing powder or liquid, or fabric softener since i bought these.
edit for 07//2016 These work so well that I've now bought Soapberry tree saplings to plant. They really do work great! Really good stain removal on adult clothes, with a quarter dose of bleach for whites the stuff gleams. It doesn't have a smell. it smells like cloth when it comes out of the dryer. I will use these until science comes up with something better. Original. Came with a small bag, which seems to work fine in my high capacity washer. I haven't used washing powder or liquid, or fabric softener since i bought these. We're homesteaders that have a low capacity sewage treatment plant, so we have an HE washer to reduce load on our plant. I've been searching for a soap that wouldn't harm animals or dirt if i decided to just drain the washer to a small trench behind the house... and found these soap berries. I do the 6-8 whole pieces in the bag, and that lasts for a week's worth of laundry. I replace the berries when the bag is squishy after the spin cycle, normally they're still a little firm if they're still good. Since we wait to do laundry, the towels and sweaty shirts smell pretty bad before they get into the machine... and they come out smelling like clean fabric, every time, regardless of water temperature. We used to use All Free and Clear, and clothes would come out not smelling very good from time to time depending on how long clothes sat in the hamper. It's really cool to put a couple of halves / pieces into a cup and fill it with hot water, it suds up immediately! We haven't tried washing our dog with it yet, or anything other than laundry, but it works great in the HE washer on all cycles, even with bleach! Don't hesitate. I can see a pound of these lasting way more than a year in our household where we do ~5 large loads a week. If you have any questions i'll answer them as i get them.

Love These!
Our family consists of four people, myself, husband and our two sons (a teenager and a one year old) and our budget is so tight it squeaks. My husband was skeptical about these, so we bought a small bag our first time around to see if they would work for us. That was January 2014 and we've never gone back to commercial laundry detergent. My oldest son has sensitive skin and doesn't have a problem with laundry washed in Soap Nuts. I like that I don't need to sort the baby's clothes out of the rest of our clothes, they all go in the machine together with a little baggie of soap nuts. We even wash his cloth diapers with soap nuts and have never had any issues with smells or the necessity to "strip" his diapers. Mom win! One other benefit is that Soap Nuts doesn't take up a lot of space - a beautiful thing in a small home where space is at a premium. My only frustration is that we kept forgetting to retrieve the baggie from the laundry before tossing it in the dryer. To fix this I ordered extra muslin baggies on Amazon and fill them all up at once and ready for the next load for when we forget - or can't find - the dang bag. I got these and they work great! Regency Spice Bags for Bouquet Garnis with Drawstring Tops, set of 4 .) I've had no problems washing our business and casual wear, the teenager's stinky sweaty things, the husband's jeans, or the baby's drool stained shirts and nasty diapers. Plus we have the added benefit that the price is well in our budget - 32 ounces of Soap Nuts for $23.95 = about 448 loads of laundry at $0.05 a load!!

Great product!
I have been using these for a year now. One order lasted the full year with wash for two adults. They are amazing. We use 4-5 pieces per load and do 5-6 loads with each bag. We are in a rural area with hard water. Absolutely no need for fabric softener. We noticed immediately how especially soft our towels were.I for one am never going back to commercial products.

I will NEVER go back to store bought laundry soap again!
I had to research what soap nuts were...after my research I decided to give them a try. The reason I think they are a great buy is that a handful of these soap nuts can be used up to 5 times before they are no longer any good. 2lbs will take us over a year to use them all up. I found a recipe to make my own liquid laundry soap using these soap nuts. BTW these soap nuts can be tossed into the compost bin when they are all used up, cause they are all natural. There is not much of a scent and since they are all natural they are safe for sensitive skin. The price I paid is VERY much worth it, especially for 2lbs of soap nuts that can be used up to 5 times.

I cannot recommend these enough!
I just recently purchased another 2lbs of soap nuts after a trial run that passed with flying colors. As a new mom, I have been trying to make healthier choices for my family. These have been an amazing gift to me. They have replaced half the products in my home, and they are non-toxic! I was just looking for a safe laundry detergent for my son, but I found a product that helps me across the house. I now use these in place of dish soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, floor cleaner, and just my basic cleaning needs. They leave a very mild sweet smell but more than anything they just leave everything smelling CLEAN! No more headaches from harsh chemicals and overpowering fragrances. If you are looking for an eco-friendly, non-toxic switch, these are so worth trying out! Because this is a natural product, it isn't as strong as some of the products out there. When it comes to needing a little extra help I add a little washing soda to my laundry loads, and vinegar OR hydrogen peroxide (Not for shampoo) for my other cleaning needs. Give soap nuts a test run! Maybe it will change your life as much as it has for mine.

Impressed with Soap berry as a Shampoo
I recently purchased these and used for the first time. After watching some helpful videos online, I soaked 5 pieces in a large glass mixing bowl over night, stirring occasionally with egg beater. The next night I poured into a large recycled plastic bottle and gave it a hard couple of shakes and did the same in the shower before pouring onto my hair. It didn't suds up like a normal shampoo, but I wasn't expecting it too. I honestly was not expecting to like the results...literally had no high hopes that this would work out for my long, thin strand hair. I massaged it in a few minutes, poured the rest through hair and rinsed completely a minute later (followed up with my normal conditioner). When my hair air dried later, I must admit I was very happy and surprised by the results! It cleaned my hair well, but did not dry it out like some other natural methods I've tried. My hair had shine, a little more body and even felt a little softer than usual. I can't wait to see if I continue to love the results the next couple of weeks, but so far on this one try I would not return to bottled shampoo, if the results are always this way. Give it a try! Also, I dried the berries on top a towel over night and plan to reuse same berries a few times.

BEWARE of extra Tariffs and Duties!
While the soap nuts are excellent, I paid $50 for 2 pounds and when they were delivered I had to pay an extra $46!!!! Thatโs almost $100 for some friggin soap nuts!
