I just plugged these into my studio monitors and they are picking up a fair bit of noise.. can anyone help me?  thanks

wrong attenuation? probably... having to turn the volume way up? lots of hiss? monitors want +4dB attenuation... look for -10dB/+4dB switch on your monitors and set it to -10dB... if there's no switch, sometimes the switch is using the 1/4" TRS input instead of the XLR (cheaper that way, switches cost extra. switch cable, switch amp ;) some monitors don't like low line levels at all... probably the single most common cause of noise with these sorts of cables is the line level being every kind of wrong. most RCA audio outputs tend to be of the fixed gain sort... & it's too low. not enough info to be more specific without listing all possible sources of noise, without even knowing what OP's noise sounds like...

plug everything into one power outlet. one studio monitor plugged into one RCA jack. both plugged into the same outlet.

is the noise still there? are you sure it's not the line level? try another cable.

if any run near any other cable, make sure they cross ASAP, don't run them side by side. run them in entirely opposite directions where possible. i.e. power down, signal up.

it is single rca and it goes to xlr.

Can I connect this cable from a coaxial output on the tv to an xlr 3 pin female on the Yamaha mixer?

No, the cable in question comes with a RCA male connector.  It will not go into the coaxial connector on the TV.  The coaxial connector on the TV is an input looking for 6 Mhz of bandwidth.

Is there a different cable ending using "female rca" and xlr male?  i don't want to use rca coupler, which may get noise.
