yes, it fit the 15.6 inch thick laptop , and the inside with the protective sleeve.

No. There are three distinct sections inside this bag, plus one of the dividers is a zippered pocket the size of the bag. I really like this bag and it has held up well. The padded divider is not so thick that you couldn't use the bag for other purposes besides a laptop.
