It depends on the variety of tortoise being kept. For dessert/grassland tortoises who eat a lot of grass, dry grass should be approximately 70% of their diet and fruit should be an occasional treat. For forest tortoises, you should supplement with an animal protein such as insects and frozen pinkies. For Mediterranean tortoises, you should use the fruit as an occasional treat and supplement with some additional botanicals, such as dandelions. Following up on the Sulcata - I didn’t think sulcatas should have bugs/protein? Is this an okay occasional treat for a sulcata or not recommended?

There are no bugs or animal proteins in the tortoise variety pack. The fruit contains bee pollen, which a tortoise may consume when feeding on flowers in the wild. Bee pollen is very nutritious.
