Realistic
A great book written by someone who actually did it, crew guy, friend, and race fan. A perspective alot of people will relate to. Great stories, Loved the book!

Excellent “down to earth” book
For a real retrospective view of life in the non-glamorous side of racing, filled with real, personal stories of being “that guy” who is there for the love of the sport and the comrade that comes with it, this is a book for you,

Good read
This book is tribute to a guy who raced just for the love of the sport. It is also shows the authors dedication to Sprint car racing. Knoxville is perhaps the greatest Sprint car track in the world and to run competitively there is a real achievement. A small slice of history that needed to be preserved and I enjoyed it very much.

An accurate account of being a pit crew at the local dirt track
The writer kept my interest as I did all the things that he did on a wekly basis at the race track. I enjoyed looking back at those times in my life.

Good book on sprint car racing
First-hand accounts of any type of sports experience are usually the best ones to read. Since I have very little knowledge of sprint car racing, it seemed like reading a book on this sport would be the best way to learn about it. The stories shared by author Todd Thomas while he worked on a pit crew in the sport was an excellent way in which to learn about the sport.Jerry Crabb is a legend in the sport, especially in Iowa where he made his mark at the Knoxville Raceway, winning the 1998 Masters Classic. The reader will learn much about Jerry and his wife Jan through the storytelling of Thomas, who shares just about every experience he ever had on the track, whether or not he was a part of Crabb’s pit crew at the time. For readers who have little to no knowledge of the sport, Thomas writes in easy-to-understand language about the nuances of racing, the parts and structure of the cars, and even explains why the drivers in the sport have to steer to the right when they are actually traveling in a counterclockwise direction on the track. There are also plenty of entertaining and downright hilarious stories so readers who know the sport and the legend that is Mr. Crabb will also appreciate the book. It is recommended for anyone who is interested in the sport of sprint car racing.

Fascinating
An interesting look into a world that I knew little about. There are plenty of books around about professional racing in the big leagues, but precious little about the blunt end where volunteers and enthusiasts find ways to get out there and race. This book opens a door on that world.

What a great capture of what 1000's do week in week out. A real story that as dirt, tears and laughter. It's one of those true life experience that would make the perfect film, however it's going to have to be a gritty actor to fail the boots of Jerry Crabb! Thanks for sharing this Toddy
